    2025 Offseason Thread: Spring Cleaning

Semantics: The most useful of arguments. All the reporting is that he's not coming back. He spoke about the team in past tense. The only thing left is for him to say "I'm not coming back." At this point it is highly improbable, and so I think the point of debating whether we keep him or not...

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I'm here because of 92/93 and the Sundin years, especially 2002. Speaking of boring hockey, I don't think anyone who was a Devis fan during the Brodeur/trap era is complaining about their Cups. I'd rather endure a boring team that can legitimately win than a fun team that can't get past the...

    2025 Offseason Thread: Spring Cleaning

The fact is Marner isn't coming back and rehashing that ad nauseum is pointless. All trades are on the table but this team didn't get it done and Marner is the first shoe to drop. And personally, I wouldn't want to pay him $14M to stay anyway.

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

We could always go back to watching entertaining hockey from the Burke era if that's all it is.

His agent also completely bungled the PR game in order to maximize earnings. You reap what you sow.

ECF: Florida Panthers vs. Carolina Hurricanes

Bennett trying to take out Andersen now I see.

I wish they kept doing more episodes.

I definitely wouldn't give up on Carlo that easily. He killed us repeatedly in the playoffs previously. I think he'll settle in nicely next season and he's also still very young.

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

It'll be interesting to see how they spread the depth around. If we can get JT on a cheap-ish contract in the 3C slot and get a 2C then I think we're in pretty good shape for further roster building.

Can they make you president already?

    Leafs announce Shanahan not returning

Agreed here. And I we don't know the extent to which Shanhahan had influence. Without more info we don't really know which deals Shanhahan had what level of influence on. I think for now all we know for sure is he wanted to keep the core together.

    Leafs announce Shanahan not returning

Why wouldn't moving on from Shanny now make sense? If Pelley is more hands off and just acts as a rubber stamp then I'd think that's a good thing.

There's no way I trust Ehlers when I view the issue as not having reasonable depth.

At this rate Gustafsson would've been fine for offense considering Rielly can barely play offense or defense. Ok maybe I'm being a bit harsh...

Absolutely. The GM needs to have free reign to do his job. Only the very biggest moves for salary reasons should the President be involved.

    Leafs announce Shanahan not returning

It's bizarre watching this knowing what kind of hockey teams his GMs built.

    2025 Offseason Thread: Spring Cleaning

I get what you're saying but it really depends on what they're going to do and we don't really know anything yet. I mean, I did hear that Tanenbaum was a champion of Shanahan's and Bell would generally vote in line with Tanenbaum, and that's led us to where exactly? It feels like the last 9...

    2025 Offseason Thread: Spring Cleaning

I was listening to JD Bunkis a few days ago and he's right - there's been an air of "We're smarter than the fans" and "The fans are the problem" being driven by the organization and I think people are fed up with it, especially when we could've gotten some assets back from a Marner or Nylander...

    2025 Offseason Thread: Spring Cleaning

Of course that's true, but with the history of Marner with his agent and reading the tea leaves you think things would have to break a certain way for him to come back, and when you're presented with what's been reported as being the richest contract in team history and you don't sign when it's...
