Dakota Joshua being traded to Toronto

Nice. I said last week or so that I thought he'd be a good pick-up. Was obviously hoping to send a little bit of salary Vancouver's way as well but a 2028 4th isn't anything to sweat. I don't know if Joshua will ever get back to his 23/24 offensive numbers but something between that and last...

Well Marner, Marchand, Boeser, Ehlers. So currently on Plan E I guess. We'll see what happens with Roslovic.

I haven't really seen all that much about the first part. If we're taking a strong stance about the second part then the league's about to get a whole lot smaller probably.

I don't see it happening, but I wouldn't hate this at a low cap hit like that. Pretty risk free considering if he struggles he'd likely terminate his deal rather than go to the Marlies. He wouldn't be eligible for incentives/performance bonuses in his deal though.

I think it'd be a stretch for a soon to be 32-year old Travis Boyd to get back into full time NHLer territory. Good AHL vet for Cowan to lean on though both on and off the ice, and a likely first call-up guy.

I was a little surprised to see he only played 20 games here, because I remember liking him a decent amount so just figured he played more. Happy to see him back, in a much more reduced organizational role of course.

His WHL team, the Oil Kings, just picked up a 3rd Czech import forward for this upcoming season. They might even form a pretty good 1st or 2nd line there. Feels like that's a good place to leave him for another season.

It's kind of crazy to see Winnipeg, the reigning Presidents Trophy winner, currently sitting with $18mil in cap space. Roughly $3-5mil of that will likely go to Toews' bonuses but that's still a massive amount of cap space for a team with Cup aspirations. edit: Ah, I didn't realize Vilardi is...

If the Pens do sign him I'd guess it'd be to a minor league deal only.

Pittsburgh native, Pens have their AHL and ECHL teams not too too far from the city. Certainly wouldn't be shocking.

That very possibly attributed to it but he's also likely expected to play on his weak side this season a lot too with Benoit on the left.

I thought OEL looked fantastic early on but became less impactful as the season went on. Somewhat similar to Rielly though he played with a ton of different partners throughout the year (Rielly, Tanev, McCabe, Benoit, and Timmins all spent 100+ 5-on-5 minutes with him) so maybe that played a...

There's no immediate need for this season, but there's apparently still some talk they'll shop him if the number he wants long-term is too high.

Would have been more interested in the 2nd round pick that came with him.

    Reaves traded to San Jose

I'll truly never understand what he was thinking signing Kampf, who only makes sense playing heavy defensive 4th line minutes, and Reaves, who only makes sense playing NOT heavy defensive 4th line minutes, to 4/3 year deals within a couple of days of each other. Like the money and term of the...

I'm willing to give Rielly a chance for a bounce back season. Brand new coach who obviously played a style of play that Rielly isn't used to and before Carlo arrived he bounced between all kinds of defence partners that weren't really the optimal fits (Myers, off-side OEL, Tanev in usage Mo...

    Reaves traded to San Jose

Well like I said yesterday I was definitely expecting a move after Reaves' podcast interview and I think a team like San Jose made a ton of sense. Tons of cap space, lots of young guys that someone like Reaves seems to always have good relationships with. Certainly wasn't expecting a...

Curious to see how this plays out. There is quite literally zero chance of him hitting 83 more games in that timeline if he's still here next season. Would a Chicago or San Jose or Anaheim take the last year of his deal and have him around for vibes and what not? Or maybe it gets to a point...

Nick Schmaltz (1 year remaining, $5.85mil AAV with notably a $7mil salary this season), Jaden Schwartz (1 year remaining, $5.5mil AAV, Berube connection), and Jared McCann (2 years remaining, $5.5mil AAV) all feel like the most realistic top-6 candidates to acquire via trade for this season. I...
