Even L3 was fine-ish last night. I mean the team gave up 68 shot attempts at 5-on-5 and that trio was only on for 8 of them (while mustering just 3 of their own though). The top line is what largely got absolutely destroyed.

Shot attempts were 1-16 in the 10:21 of 5-on-5 ice time that Myers played tonight. Goals 0-2. xGF% of 3.01%. It's a shame Matt Benning is hurt because you gotta think the door would be wide open for him to get another NHL shot if he wasn't.

I've been as critical as anyone about Kampf's contract but I feel for him here. Dude has his flaws but he should not be considered a 16th forward on a NHL team. Would the 4th line really had been any worse during Laughton's absence if Kampf was playing that role instead? Tough to imagine that...

JT and Maccelli were my picks even going into the 3rd. Nice to see them both rewarded with goals for their play.

Shocked he didn't pass that.

Maccelli could easily have had 3 or 4 primary assists tonight.

Kinda ironic that Laughton and Lorentz returning is what causes Cowan to get sent down after it was his performance on a line with those two in preseason that largely earned him his job out of camp.

The 10 game burning a contract thing only applies to 18/19-year olds who get sent back down to the junior leagues. Since he's 20 years old Cowan's first year of his ELC begins this season regardless of where he plays.

Well Leafs have now quietly won 4 of their past 5 games despite a number of key injuries/absences. No doubt basically everyone has another level to reach but good to see some points still being collected.

I question how truly "fine" he's doing but this still sounds a heck of a lot better than what it originally looked like.

Looks like McMann taking a seat while Nylander gets back into the line-up. Got off to a decent start but 0 points in his last 8 games, with some of those coming on the top line too. Seems due for a sit.
