Same. The UFA contract that has been signed that feels like the Leafs missed out is Brazeau. Not a single other contract seems like good value. I think Tre has done a fine job avoiding the mistakes that were made yesterday in an extremely thin UFA market.

It's not just McJesus next summer. There's other big deal potential UFAs - Eichel, Kaprizov, Connor, Panarin, to start. If any of them hit the market, the Leafs need to be in a position to pounce.

To be fair, there wasn't a whole lot in the UFA market even before it opened - and one of the best available decided to re-commit long-term to the team he already played for. The whole forward market was basically Ehlers, Granlund, and scraps. Ehlers is still out there, but, none of the rest...

Seriously. Granlund got 3 years at $7M, and he's definitely not as good as Kadri.

Really going to depend on how much ice time he gets. If he’s a 13th/14th forward type, this is fine. If he’s getting regular ice time…not great.

Yeah, I believe so. With the Marner trade still not official, the leafs are about $3m over the cap with Knies locked in. They can go $9.5M over the cap and there would definitely be salary going out in a deal of that magnitude. A Hertl deal, at this point, would just get wrapped into the Marner...

Can go over the cap by 10% in the offseason. There’s plenty space for all of it right now.
