I don't think we a need a new thread every time a player is recalled from or assigned to the minors.

#Leafs recall Josh Leivo from the Toronto Marlies on an emergency basis. Will report tomorrow morning in advance of game vs NYR #TMLtalk

If he is healthy why wasn't he called up much earlier, especially after Lupul got hurt?  He made the team. Why the demotion if he is healthy?

He was sent down to make room for Panik, and because the team didn't want him playing 4th line minutes here when he could be playing top line minutes with the Marlies.

mirtle: Leafs send Carrick, Leivo abs Percy down. Cap move.

Also possible that Winnik could play on Wednesday, so they might stay down there until needed.

If anybody is a bit confused about why the Leafs keep sending Percy (and others) up and down, PPP wrote an explanation of the salary cap benefits those moves provide last week:

Frattin seems to be in limbo in this organization, benched so Leivo can play.  If he has regressed so much why don't we put him on waivers (which he probably would clear) and let him try and regain his mojo with the Marlies playing major minutes. I think it highly unlikely he will find his game again riding the pine or getting 3 minites in the odd game.
I think there is something still in the lad, he just has to find it again.

I agree with this also. Foolish to call up guys to play over him. I'm really doubting he gets claimed on waivers at this point but you never know.

Why take minutes away from guys like Connor Brown so that a 26 year old guy with a career average of 22 points/82 games can take icetime away from them.

Soon to be 27.

There is lots of ice time available with the Marlies and I wouldnt expect him to be given a long leash, he is either going to get it back in 20 games or he is gone I would think.  I don't want to give up on this guy for some reason.

I think Frattin's doing a great job of filling the role of "warm body." Asking much more of him is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Probably true, and if someone does go down he may get a chance. They seem to be content to keep him as some sort of insurance policy for some reason or other.

Didn't say he had to play over Connor Brown. I'd rather see Frattin in the Marlies lineup vs Orr and McLaren. He might just find some confidence.

Orr and McLaren have been healthy scratches for the Marlies most nights. Both have played in less than half of the team's games (5 of 11 for Orr, 4 of 11 for McLaren).

They both played in only one game, so 8 of the 11 had at least one of them dressed.

Who really cares is Orr or Mclearn have played. They are not on the Leafs which is what everyone wanted for the last two seasons. I would love to see more of Lievo. Frattin has been a bust. Time to get rid of him.

I never said play Frattin more than Conner Brown. Obviously the Leaf brass traded D'Amigo to get him and felt he had something left in the tank. He sure won't find in on the bench. That is all I am saying, give him the chance to play 20 games. If it doesnt pan out then toast him.
