Well, congrats to Pat Burns' family. That's long overdue.

But Rob Blake? Really? Over Gilmour and Shanahan

Gilmour got in back in 2011, Shanahan last year...

I feel like I'm missing some sarcasm.

No, my brain just skipped a beat there. Lindros is the guy I'm currently outraged about.

It was 2000-2001 and hoping the Leafs get BLAKE and instead they get BELAK.  Such is the life of a Leaf fan.

Pat Burns was deserving for sure.  Great memories of him behind our bench.

Very happy to hear Pat Burns has been nominated. Congrats to the late Pat Burns, The Burns Family and the NHL. It's about time..

Andreychuk snubbed again. Should be ahead of Blake.

I've heard his name brought up a few times during this process, so maybe it's just me but Andreychuk seems like the kind of guy who would be in the Hockey Hall of Very Good.

Just as a quick note so that it doesn't seem as though I'm entirely bitter/dealing with severe memory problems I do think attention should be paid to Hasek especially. Easily on top of my list of best goaltenders ever and probably should be in the mix of any greatest player of all time discussion.

Some very deserving guys going into the Hall this year.  Rob Blake seems like a guy who should have waited a while to get in.  Extremely good defenseman but 777 points in 1270 games.  He's a hall of famer but for Lindros to be snubbed for the 4th line seems a little much.  Especially when a very deserving Peter Forsberg got into the HOF with similar career stats that were marred by injuries.

I still feel like they made a mistake with the Burns selection.  He was going to get in eventually and there really wasn't a huge reason to not select him when he was about to pass away.  Give him that honour for something that was clearly going to happen down the road anyway.

After Bure last year and Forsberg this year, there's really no denying that it's just the politics of the thing keeping Lindros out at this point.

For all of Lindros' warts (a lot of that had to do with his parents more than himself), the guy has been nothing but class since retirement.  His work on concussion research is fantastic.  I have been fortunate enough to have a few conversations with him when he comes to speak with the medical classes in London every year and he's a pretty smart guy.  He's done a lot to help advance research on protecting guys from head injuries.

People holding a grudge about the Quebec/OHL stuff need to get over it at this point.

I thought only one non-player could get elected each year. Seeing that it's two, the Burns omission all these years is even more baffling.

Even though he has a Cup, I always viewed Modano as a good comparable for Sundin and the Hall of Fame conversation. They're both 1st balloters, so all's right in that respect.

I hope Lindros doesn't have to wait much longer. Outside of Lemieux, there's been no one close to him in terms of being the total package. Too bad concussions ruined his career -- he'd be top 5 all-time in my books, and even higher than Crosby.

Very happy for Pat Burns. He's my favourite Leaf coach by far. I know exactly where I was on the 401 when I heard that they hired him. I also remember seeing 2 passes to get out of our end and getting choked up. He instilled a great system and it was fun the watch after years of Club Blue and White.

Lindros omission is a travesty.

The bar was set low with Fuhr and Neely. You can justify almost any decent career based on these two being in the HOF.

That being said, I don't understand how Forsberg gets in and Lindros doesn't.

I don't think I've ever seen a combination like Lindros on the ice; level of skill and his physical dominance.

Cup rings and international play. Those are really the only things separating the two in terms of accomplishment.

If that's the case then Claude Lemieux should be in the HOF with his 4 cup rings and Conn Smythe trophy. (no I'm not serious)

Also, if memory serves, Lindros played for team Canada on any occasion he could, I seem to remember him being a fixture with team Canada at any tournament they were involved in.
