Game Notes

BOS
?Anton Khudobin (3-0-1, 2.52 GAA, .926 Sv%) will likely start for the Bruins
?The Bruins are icing a preseason-like roster with a number of injuries at forward and just general depth issues as well
?The line of Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak continues to prove to be one of the league's best: Pasta has 16 points in 14 games, Marchand 14 in 12, and Bergeron 10 in 9. Marchand will likely miss his 3rd straight game with a concussion though
?Despite a .500-ish record and that questionable depth, the Bruins appear to be playing fairly well: they're 6th in CF%, 6th in PP%, and 3rd in PK%. They've struggled to score at even-strength though as they sit in the bottom-10 in GF/60 at 5-on-5

TOR
?Andersen (9-6-0, 3.33 GAA, .898 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Matthews Watch is still on, we'll have to patiently wait to see if he's ready to return to the line-up or not. After this back-to-back though the Leafs are off until Thursday
?Andersen and Gardiner were both absent from practice yesterday, both were described as being given maintenance days so it's assumed they should be good to play

Injuries

?Brad Marchand - Concussion - Questionable Friday
?David Backes - Illness - Injured Reserve
?David Krejci - Back - Injured Reserve
?Adam McQuaid - Leg - Injured Reserve
?Ryan Spooner - Groin - Injured Reserve
?Noel Acciari - Finger-  Likely Friday
Code:

?Nathan Horton - Back - Out indefinitely
?Joffrey Lupul - Actually Injured - Out indefinitely
?Auston Matthews - Upper Body - Questionable Friday

Even without Matthews, if they all come to play they should be comfortably beating that Bruins lineup with Khudobin in net.

Stellar job as usual CtB.

This is another one of those ones where Carlton could be making up most of those names for Boston and I wouldn't know it.

I thought Leftwinglock.com made a typo with Szwarz so I actually looked him up. 26-year old from Burlington with a whopping 35 NHL games as a Coyote prior to this season.

The Leafs should probably get a backup who can actually play.  I don't love the idea of Andersen playing 16 of 18 games.  Andersen leads the league in TOI and GP at this point.  Let's not run him into the ground.  Call Pickard up already if McBackup isn't trusted.

I think Sparks is outplaying Pickard at this point.

I think the only reason I picked Pickard over Sparks was my thinking that the Leafs want to give Sparks a full year in the AHL to really establish his game rather than bouncing him back and forth.  If Sparks is going to have a meaningful NHL career I wonder if he might benefit from being the #1 guy for a full season.

Seigel confirms that Matthews is out of the lineup tonight.  He didn't take part in an optional skate but isn't going to play tonight.

That's good IMO.  I'd hold him out tomorrow nite too and that would give him over a week of rest before the next game after that.

Pastrnak avoided hanging out with good buddy, Nylandr, because every time they meet up, Willy ends up with a hatty.

I knew there was a reason to hate Pastrnak.
