Clarkson suspension?

Leafs forward David Clarkson is scheduled for an NHL disciplinary hearing for a hit to the head of St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Sobotka.

The hearing will be Saturday morning at 9am.

Earlier this season, Clarkson was suspended 10 games for leaving the bench to engage in an altercation.

I don't understand to be honest.  It was a head-hit, yes.  But it seems very Leafs centric with the suspensions this year.  I don't know who they pissed off in the league office, but something seems to be going on.  There have been numerous head shots that haven't received even a call to the league office.

Huh. I honestly didn't expect Clarkson to have a hearing over that one. I guess it's sort of indication that the league is more serious about cracking down on hits to the head - though, that just makes the fact that Seidenberg didn't get a call all that much more suspicious.

I'll go with the standard 2 games.

Don't you know wear a Bruin or Canadien Jersey you are exempt from suspensions for head shots. The only reason Thorton is in trouble is it was such a blatant foul. I did not see the hit in question but the Phaneuf hit it could be argued that Miller was off balance and moved into the hit. If yoou call one you need to call them all equally and fairly.

If he gets suspended it'll be the Leafs' 6th suspension this year. 2nd place is Vancouver with three.

In completely unrelated events.  Brayden Schenn crosschecked Kris Versteeg in the head on Wednesday.  He got a fine for it.

This happened last night, no hearing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcJucARuXX4

cowen elbowed datsyuk in the head earlier in the year, no penalty, no hearing, no phone call...datsyuk was out multiple games with a concussion.

I just don't get it...if you want to dock guys then dock every borderline thing.

It was one of those lunging chicken wing hits the league is hell bent on eliminating. Yes the league doesn't help its cause when more dangerous / blatant head shots go unpunished...Cowen just got 2 games for what used to be a perfectly legal hit...

It sad though when Brendan Shanahan makes better roster moves for your team then the coach.
