Game Notes

CGY
-Rittich (1-3-0, 2.36 GAA, .909 Sv%) will likely start for the Flames

TOR
-Hutchinson (1-1-0, 3.05 GAA, .914 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
-Thornton, Hyman, Muzzin, and Andersen are all considered day-to-day as per Keefe
-Projected lines are based off how Monday's game ended, so obviously things there can change especially if the team gets some bodies back
-Small note on Barabanov: him and Sabourin did not practice on Tuesday due to "indeterminate" Covid tests. Their retests were negative but they'll still need an additional negative test tomorrow in order to rejoin the team

Rittich again eh?

I'm really struggling over whether to pick up Rittich in fantasy for tonight. He's either getting another shutout or getting lit up.

You know how it will work - if you pick him up, he'll get lit up. If you don't, he'll be lights out.

Pick him Carlton.  You know it's the right thing to do.

Gonna wait to see if we get any updates on the injured guys first.

I'm guessing that's a "no" on the injured players.

I don't really care about Petan all that much but why is Jimmy Vesey a lock for the lineup still?

Capfriendly is flagging Petan as an Emergency Exemption, so he might've been the Hyman-specific sub.

Yeah Vesey's waiver status/cap issues with so many injured bodies probably played a role there. With that said I'm sure the Leafs could waive Vesey at this point to get some flexibility.

I know depth and injuries but at this point he has 2G1A.  It's not like he's snakebit on chances.  I haven't really seen him have a dangerous scoring chance where he got robbed or hit the post.  He has an 8.6% shooting percentage.  His career average is ~11%.  Right now he has 23 shots in 20 games so he is basically right on his career shooting average pace.  If he had scored 3 goals instead of two he would have a shooting percentage over 13%.

Hes not crucial to the PP or PK.  He's perfectly neutral in terms of his impact on the ice.  He doesn't bring a skill that complements the lineup that other guys who aren't playing couldn't do.  I'd rather see Petan get a longer look, or have Anderson get a shot over him at this point.

I too hold Petan in higher esteem than Vesey, but from the get go, I always considered Vesey to be a placeholder for Robertson to hurdle, and a cheap depth/reclamation bet.

Hutchinson played well enough to get a W on Monday. If the Leafs we know and love show up tonight he should pick a win.
