Leafs Broadcast Schedule

Sportsnet link

Based on what I have been reading, it looks like TSN will get 26 games. But it also appears that the Leafs games will be on TSN4. What the heck is TSN4 and will I have to pay extra for it if I am on Rogers?

P.S. I am thrilled that there are no games on LeafsTV!

I found this on another forum about TV channels.

Just an update regarding TSN1-5
The extra feeds are scheduled to launch on Monday, August 25. Like Sportsnet each feed will have a dedicated region. They will still be branded as TSN1, TSN2, TSN3, TSN4 and TSN5. The breakdown of each feed is as follows

TSN 1 - Pacific (BC and Yukon)
TSN 2 - National
TSN 3 - West (Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut)
TSN 4 - Ontario (Leafs viewing region)
TSN 5 - East (Eastern Ontario, Quebec, Maritimes)

Leafs regional games will air on TSN4, Habs and Senators games will air on TSN5. I'm not sure if the Jets games will air on TSN3 as Bell has been selling the Jets games as a separate regional package not included with TSN. My assumption is a lot of the ESPN studio content will be on TSN2. The regionalised Sportscentre telecasts will air on their respective regional feed and I would assume any Radio simulcasts will air on their respective regional channel as well.

To be clear all of the channels are technically "national" channels, they are just programming the regional content on specific channels for ease of access. In the case of NHL games, they will be blacked out for viewers outside the viewing region.

My guess is that LeafsTV will be shut down in the near future.

When LeafsTV first launched, they didn't carry any games...and it was a much better station IMO.

Once they started carrying the games, they put all their money and energy into that and let good people go and cancelled shows that, by all accounts, they will be resurrecting. (There were times during their non-games hours that their staff appeared to be Andi Petrillo and a camera-person. And, of course, Henny who must work for scale.)

John Shannon was also in charge. No matter what you think of him as an 'analyst', he was a good behind-the-scenes guy.

I don't know if they can go backwards, though.

The tsn.ca story said Jim Ralph is doing color on radio with Bowen.  I thought he'd been fired ... now he's back?  Anyhow, glad to hear it, I alwys liked him when I used to listen to the radiocasts.

The whole firing thing didn't last the summer. He was back before last season began.

A twitter user made up a nice little infographic of the Leafs broadcast schedule:

I knew TSN was still going to have regional rights, but I didn't think they'd have that many. They're showing almost just as many games as Sportsnet's main channel will be.

The nationally broadcast Sunday games are on City.

I can't see me getting CityTV in northern Ontario...that's a national station?

There's a CityTV in most major Canadian cities. You probably do get one of them if you have a cable package.

I hope so, if I get a cable package that is.

Regarding the schedule on Mapleleafs.com - looks like every Saturday game is on CBC, but certain games in October just say 'CBC' while the rest of the season it says 'HNIC' - is that still CBC but just not the national game?

HNIC isn't only on CBC any more and all Saturday games are national now. The games that are labeled "HNIC" don't have a channel assigned to it yet, but they will all be nationally broadcast on either City, Sportsnet, Sportsnet 360, Sportsnet ONE or CBC.

That's what I was wondering, and fearing.

Somebody really needs to cut through this thicket and offer an all-Leafs-games package for streaming.  I'd gladly pay for that.  Fat chance, I know.

Are some of those channels not available where you live?

In the fall/winter months I sometimes like to go spend a weekend at the cottage and it's a set up with just an antenna that picks up maybe 2 channels, one of which would be CBC.  But if they're on Sportsnet or something on Saturday I'll be out of luck when I do that, and I hate missing a game.

Not a huge deal or anything, but a minor annoyance.

I can't reccomend hockeystreams.com enough, perfect quality streams with choice of feed on every game and no blackouts, thanks to CTB for turning me on to it.
