Game Notes

TOR
?Hutchinson (3-1-0, 1.76 GAA, .943 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Matthews has progressed to the point where he was able to take part in Tuesday's practice as a full participant. Barring a setback tomorrow there's a good chance he returns to the line-up
?Nylander aka Willy Styles was not on the ice at practice on Tuesday. Keefe said he took a maintenance day and signs point to him playing
?On the goaltending front Campbell has been deemed out. Andersen had a good day at practice and should be close to returning, but that won't be confirmed until tomorrow. But with a back-to-back here it might make more sense to give Hutchinson the first start so Freddy gets an extra day to recover

EDM
?Smith (6-1-0, 1.87 GAA, .938 Sv%) will likely start for the Oilers
?Edmonton will be without Alex Chiasson as he's serving a 1-game suspension for cross checking Vesey at the end of Monday's game
?James Neal has missed Edmonton's last 4 games with an undisclosed injury but looks like he's ready to return

Injuries

?Auston Matthews - Hand - Probable Wednesday
?William Nylander - Undisclosed - Probable Wednesday
?Frederik Andersen - Lower Body - Questionable Wednesday
?Jack Campbell - Undisclosed - Out Wednesday
?Wayne Simmonds - Hand - Injured Reserve
Code:

?Dominik Kahun - Undisclosed - Questionable Wednesday
?Zach Kassian - Upper Body - Injured Reserve
?William Lagesson - Upper Body - Injured Reserve
?Slater Koekkoek - Collarbone - Out for season
?Oscar Klefbom - Shoulder - Out for season

Non-GDT note but a PSA: that question mark bug seems to have been sorted out thanks to Rick. If it happens to you now it clearly means the boards hate you personally.

8pm start time, hallelujah. Let's thank the Oilers by beating them by fewer goals.
So the 10pm EST on Monday was actually 8pm MST? 8pm is a late start time isn't it? So why the extra late start Monday?

Not a super unusual time for Alberta teams when they're getting a national broadcast. Late game broadcasts typically start at 10 ET, so they need to be 8 MT.

The next best thing to another Leafs shutout tonight would be if they gave up a goal in like the first 30 seconds, the Oilers think the dam has finally broken, and then they don't score again.

Never mind not scoring again, they don't get any real solid high danger chances after that. Like, they think they've broken through, only to get stifled even worse than the past two games.

McDavid has somewhat surprisingly been held scoreless in 3 consecutive games twice in his career.

Yeah. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the Oilers will put some pucks in our net tonight. It just goes without saying with Matthews back and the team coming off 2 straight shutouts, perhaps a little overconfidence will seep in.

We'll see but there is a tendency to let up when the stars come back. Looks like Freddie is ready to go. They say he's in the starters net.
