Leafs trade Lindholm for Nic Petan

Petan's a small-ish forward, scored 52 points in 52 AHL games last year. Has only played 13 games this season. Turns 24 this March.

If this means Gauthier is sticking as 4C, then move aside while I get to the ship's railing.

If Petan can play centre then Moore-Petan-Brown seems like a pretty good 4th line when healthy. Completely changes things there.

Petan's a C, but on the smaller side. He was well thought of once upon a time. Feels a bit like shuffling the deck chairs, but, it's a trade, so, cool

I mean Lindholm brought nothing to the Leafs so I guess this is cool not having him anymore

That's a 4th line with scoring potential.

Babcock probably will gripe about the loss of a PK faceoff man.

In defense of Par, he got off to a decent start at C but then got stuck in quicksand.

So who takes his place on the PK?  How about ... Auston Matthews?

He could, I dunno, play any of Tavares/Matthews/Kadri there.

I think that's something of the shift we see for the stretch drive. The top line of Tavares and co can be fairly safely relied upon to match up against the other top line. A Marleau-Kadri-Brown can handle secondary shutdown. Why not build out a '4th' line that takes on a more speed and skill approach with Ennis-Petan-Moore.
