Marcus Stroman

Too many good pitchers is never a bad thing to have but if he's back in starting form a deserving pitcher is going to lose out.  Maybe he takes one of Buehrle's starts and Hutchison's road starts.

Gibbons says he's starting Saturday vs. the Yankees.

Throwing him right into the fire, eh? I suppose that's one way to get a clear indication on how ready he is.

Gonna be a tough start.  Buehrle got a cortisone injection in his shoulder today too so he's clearly pitching on fumes at this point.  Giving him a week off isn't such a bad idea.  He's been hit hard the last few weeks.  Still has been getting decent results but guys are getting loud outs even when he's in control.

Good luck to Stroman.  The fact that he was so eager to return and be given the start against the Yankees Saturday indicates that he's willing to please and showcase himself (to do well, hopefully).

Might as well see where Stroman stands now that he's recovered from rehab.  Gonna be interesting.

Stroman may get smashed, but I'm not concerned.  I just don't think you can hold back your second best pitcher at this point.  Especially when your options are a worn out Buehrle, Hutchison (enough said), and two guys who you wouldn't be surprised if they imploded in Dickey and Estrada.

Plus, if the Jays end up playing the one game wild card, I'm more comfortable heading into a potential ALDS with Stroman as the Game 1 starter than any of the aforementioned guys.

Stroman's first outing was very good, supported with an early 6 run lead, probably should have left an inning earlier but he seemed to be very relaxed out there. Price, Stroman, Estrada and Hutch.  Buehrie is old and tired and unless he gets a few weeks rest I think is not an asset.
Dickey, well Dickey is Dickey and he is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. Yankees seemed to have his number yesterday.  Not sure if he will win playoff games unless he brings his A+ stuff (that we see very rarely).
