Nerd question

My nephew is going to be on the Rick Mercer Report tonight.  I've got Rogers cable, with pvr, but my sister-in-law wants it taped so she can share it.  I don't have a tv-tuner in my laptop...

Any best way to tape this somehow and throw it on a DVD?

From the little research I've done, the easiest way is to hook up a VCR(boooo) or a DVD recorder to the PVR and record it that way.

Here's a forum entry:

That looks perfect.  Has anyone tried it?

I don't have Rogers so I haven't but there's another link I found that offers the ability to use the Firewire Port to send it to your computer. I'll give you the link but i'm not sure if it would work:

Another option, Rick, might be just to download a torrent of the show and write it to DVD using whatever DVD writing software you might have on your laptop.

Looks like this is the best way to do it.  We just have a plain dvd/bluray player - it doesn't record.

I'll find a torrent and use the laptop to download and burn to dvd.
