It's not like the NFL where you test a guy's 40 time because running as fast as you can happens a lot in Football or in the NBA where your vertical leap comes into effect.
I get a sort of general fitness testing but you'd think we'd get lap times and slapshot velocities and such. One of the ways the NFL has built their draft into what they have is by being able to hype prospects and say things like "He's the fastest receiver in the draft". Wouldn't we all want to know Strome's time around the ice vs. Marner's? Or Hanifin's shot speed?
Or maybe I'm wrong Maybe there's useful information in an off-ice combine.

If there's one thing last year's team lacked, it was core strength.
