Game Notes

FLA
?Luongo (15-15-4, 3.13 GAA, .898 Sv%) will likely start for the Panthers
?Florida will be missing the playoffs for the 3rd straight season, 2nd under Dale Tallon
?Nobody can fault Barkov or Huberdeau for that. Both are having career years. Barkov has 87 points in 75 games while Huberdeau has 82. Since February 17th the pair actually lead the league in scoring with 34 points in 19 games for Barkov and 30 for Huberdeau

TOR
?Andersen (34-15-5, 2.72 GAA, .918 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Marincin returned to practice on Sunday, so it seems as though he's recovered from the flu. I'm assuming he'll replace Oz in the line-up but we'll have to wait for confirmation on that

Injuries

?Derek MacKenzie - Shoulder - Injured Reserve
?Denis Malgin - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
Code:

?Travis Dermott - Shoulder - Injured Reserve
?Jake Gardiner - Back - Injured Reserve
?Martin Marincin - Illness - Probable Monday

I thought Florida would be in the mix this year. Goes to show you how important depth is I suppose.

Goaltending has probably let them down more than anything. Luongo's Sv% is .898, Reimer's is .902.

Luongo also has 3 years left on his contract. Next season's salary is $1.6mil while the other two are just $1mil each. He turns 40 next week. Wonder if he develops a rash this offseason.

It for sure will be a medical thing before a healthy early retirement. The cap recapture penalty cost to Vancouver would be ugly. $8,520,373 cap hit spread over 1-3 years if he retired early.

It was a separated shoulder right?  Not bad for recovery time.  I think it's been exactly 4 weeks.

The 28th would be 4 weeks exactly. Based on typical practice habits of an injured player I'd fully expect him to play on the 27th.

So the Panthers will actually have someone named Samuel Montembeault in net tonight. Apparently Reimer is injured and they want Luongo in net tomorrow night vs. Montreal.

Montembeault, who I used copy and paste to post his name both times, has an 0.893 save percentage in 8 NHL games this season, a 0.901 save percentage in 37 AHL games this season, and a 0.896 save percentage in 41 AHL games last season.

Probably his last game this year to keep him under 10 games. He won his first 4 games so I think they let him run with it but now that they're dropping out of the playoff run I doubt they burn a year of control.

So what your saying is Samuel "Stonewall" Montembeault is going to get a shutout tonight.

He's 22 years old so he's passed the whole slide risk/10 games thing.

58 save performance, guaranteed.
