Game Notes

FLA
?Luongo (15-10-2, 2.55 GAA, .927 Sv%) will likely start for the Panthers
?Florida is 20-6-1 in their past 27 games. They still sit 3 points behind New Jersey for the final wildcard spot in the East, but the Panthers have 2 games in hand on them
?In Florida's past 27 games Barkov has 32 points, Dadanov 29 points, Yandle 27, Trocheck 25, and Bjugstad 24
?Barkov's play this season is earning him some talk in the Hart trophy discussion. He's always been known for his two-way game but his 75 points in 73 games this season has far surpassed his previous career high of 59. He also leads all forwards in average ice-time at 22:13 per game

TOR
?Andersen (35-20-5, 2.81 GAA, .918 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Auston Matthews is 1 goal away from his 30th of the season, while Rielly needs 2 points to hit the 50-point mark for the first time in his career
?On Tuesday it was announced that Roman Polak was named the Leafs' Masterton trophy nominee

Boy, Florida would be quite the force in the East if they had just one more layer of scoring depth. But they're so hard to find, and teams aren't just going around gifting you 60, 70pt players.

I honestly have no idea how they're doing what they're doing with that bottom-6. But hey, I'm all for them finishing 8th and taking out whoever finishes 1st in the Atlantic for us.

You're just ruthless.  Simply ruthless.

EDIT: Judging by the time stamp, you had this up within 3 minutes.  What, do you have a stock of sillyface photos sitting on your drive, ready to deploy?  :) ;D

I was thinking more along the lines of this guy:

making this guy

look like a genius.

Does

even have any more 60, 70pt players to give? I think he's only got 2 left.

All Barkov, all the time, baby.

Nicely searched.

Sorry if this has been discussed other places here but if we beat Florida in regulation will that clinch 3rd place? Or any playoff scenario?

thanks in advance

I don't know anything about magic numbers, so I just find what numbers people have to say.

No. A regulation win would guarantee the Leafs at least a tie with the Panthers in points, but, for Florida could still end up with more ROW, which is the first tiebreaker.

As for other playoff scenarios, they all require at least one more point gained by the Leafs/lost by another team than can happen tonight.

EDIT: Didn't realize Philly had fallen off that much. So, yes, a Leaf win and a Philly regulation loss clinches the Leafs at least a wildcard.

Okay, now, let's rinse the bad taste of the loss to Buffalo out of our collective mouths!

Go Leafs Go!
