Parenteau to Leafs

Time to acquire M.A. Fleury I would imagine.

Pretty solid reclamation signing if it is a 1-year deal.  Just got bought out and has had multiple 50+ point seasons in the past.  Regain some of that form and he could grab as much as a 1st at the deadline.

Sportsnet has this as a 1-year deal and that Babcock's conversation is what convinced him to sign in Toronto.

Excellent low risk move. He rebounds and you move him for a pick. He plays horrible and that's okay too. I'm loving next season, it's all about the cellar.

Yep, I'm good with it too.

Anyone heard how much?

They could use one more of those reclamation type deals, not bad.

Agreed. Having a bunch of pending UFAs at the deadline is exactly what this team needs for the next few seasons.

JVR - Bozak - Parenteau
Lupul - Kadri - Panik
Spaling - Holland - Bailey
______ - _______ - Komarov

We still need NHL ready players to ice a team in the fall so veterans on 1 year deals are certainly welcome.

Parenteau could fit in on the wing on one of the top two lines and then could be dealt at the trade deadline to keep building for the future.

I suppose an argument could be made that having too many 'good, experienced' NHL players could hurt the odds of securing another top 5 draft pick, when the team really needs as many of these as they can get in the next 3-4 years. But exposing some of the young Marlie players to the NHL too soon and icing an inexperienced squad could do more damage than good in the overall picture moving forward.

Not a bad one.  Smart signing.  Trade bait at the deadline?  That depends, but since Parenteau sounds excited to be playing for Babcock, he should do well in blue & white.

From the latest days dealings looks like we may be able to flip several of these fellows for at least two or three top 2 or 3 picks next year. Keep piling them up and develop the talent. Excellent plan for a change.
I was getting very tired of the Owen Noland, etc. give aways for potential young talent and to try and shore up tired teams and selling out our future.
At least now it seems like we are trying to have one.
