Polak signs 1x1.1

Last night aside, I thought Carrick has been very good on the bottom pair and Marincin has been excellent in the AHL, seems like a backward step a little bit.

This move means somebody needs to go down. Either Borgman or Rosen likely. Or maybe Babs finally gives Moore the 4C spot permanently and Fehr finds a new home. But my money's on Rosen.

I brought this up before, but with Babcock basically only playing Zaitsev and Hainsey on the PK some type of move here was inevitable. I was hoping it'd be bringing Marincin back up, but here we are. I'd expect Polak to sub in for Carrick pretty quickly to fill that hole on the PK.

Probably correct.

Is there a chance they can slide Carrick onto the second pair with Reilly and keep Polak and Hainsey as a bottom pair PK eating duo?

Give Borgman and Rosen the run of the AHL and keep Marincin as a 7th?

I take this as another sign that they want to try to go deep right away.  Last night's gong show just earned Roman a cool mil.  (And those two horrible giveaways by Borg may be his ticket to Ricoh.)  As long as Polak's bottom pairing it isn't a bad move.

I agree.  Yeah, not a vote of confidence in either, is it?

I don't really care for this.  I get it based on Babcock's PK strategy of only using Zaitsev and Hainsey but I wasn't a huge Polak fan before his injury.  Adding a slow defenseman who is only likely to be slower really doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Yeah I mean hasnt the injury hampered his already limited mobility?

Wow hopefully this is to sit in the press box mostly so Rosen can go down to get more minutes/games in AHL and Borgman can get into all the games?

Injuries like that rarely increase your mobility.....

I like it.  Team needs someone to clear the front of the net.  Far too much traffic for our goalies to see past

Is it possible to see GAA and save percentage rates 5v5 for when Polak is on the ice and without?

I have been thinking that our team needs more experience learning how to:
- play without the puck
- break out of our own zone
- have forwards cover for defensemen
- play shorthanded

We are going to get a lot more reps of all of that with Polak on the ice.

Isn't Polak a RD?  Wouldn't this more likely spell the end for Carrick?

I would imagine it would bump Carrick out of the line-up (or at least they'll rotate), but my money would be on Rosen getting bumped off the roster and onto the Marlies.

Ah, right, that makes sense.
