Final preseason game of the year!

Leivo-Aaltonen-Kapanen
Greening-Smith-Grundstrom
Johnsson-Fehr-Soshnikov
T. Moore-Mueller-Rychel

Nielsen-Carrick
Dermott-Polak
LoVerde-Liljegren
Valiev-Holl

McElhinney
Sparks

Not sure which D pairing sits. It'd be nice for Liljegren to get another game but he's paired with another righty while Valiev-Holl are L-R, so that might be a sign he sits.

Either way, this game really doesn't mean anything for anyone except maybe Aaltonen, who still has a shot at the 4C spot.

Dermott and Fehr also could be in the final lineup, both long shots, but they can.

the new season is just around the corner, Go Leafs Go!

Kick some Red Wings butt 2017-2018 Toronto Marlies!

I know Babs makes Martin a lock, but ive really liked Leivo?s work ethic this preseason, training with Hyman has rubbed off, he?s a demon on the forecheck and can?t finish.

I have more faith in his offensive instincts than I do Hyman though.  Such a shame he can?t find a spot.

I will dare to say that i like Polak. And woudn't mind a Carrick - Polak as the 3rd pair.

Also like Borgman's game a lot.

Exchange Hyman with Leivo, i liked this.

I am not a Leivo fan, but looks good this evening
It is too bad Greening can't score, cause I have always liked his work ethic...

Leivo losing out on a starting spot to Martin is a shame.  He's done everything that he needs to to try and earn a roster spot.  Having to "steal" a job from a guy with lesser performance is a nice reminder that "we want competition" only applies to young players taking jobs from other young players.

Not just Martin though. From what I've seen of the pre-season, he's been better than Hyman and Komarov. Kapanen's done the same. At the very least, the depth guys should be cycling in more this season -- but Babcock's marginal lineup decisions have been pretty questionable and, as Seigel and Mirtle have observed, based on his own weird biases.
