In honour of the late Corporal Nathan Cirillo, let us yearn for peace, let us hope for goodwill, and let us be thankful for who we are and what we are...as a nation, as a country, as a people.

To those brave men and women in the past and present, who have been and oontinue to be of service... God bless you.

To all those of us who have lost a loved one through other circumstances, including I, having lost my own dear brother... time may ease the pain, but the memory never forgets.

For all the dearly departed souls... Rest In Peace.

Amen.

Have my two older kids wearing poppies and explaining to them the importance of it.

I'm heading downtown / to the War Memorial for the services this morning. Both my grandfathers served in WW2 as well as all their siblings, my nans dad was gassed by the Germans during WW1 and lived but her brother was killed when a U boat torpedoed his cruiser during WW2. My nan was a nurse during the blitz and all of WW2.
Lest we Forget.

As someone from the UK.

I buy a poppy every year.

I remember the fallen from WW1 and WW2 but as a person with Irish Catholic heritage, I refuse to wear a poppy that honors those who terrorized Ireland.

Just watched the CBC feed from Ottawa, it was a great turn out and the day was beautiful for all those whom showed up. I was truly and utterly touched and very proud to be a Canadian today and everyday.
For all of you whom have lost a loved one to war, my heart goes out to you.

The weather was perfect for the ceremonies.  At least in SW Ontario!

I was just in my Zehrs supermarket and every employee that I saw had a poppy on.  Nice!

mirrored....we stopped everything at 11 am here too. Everyone was 'required' (no excuse not to!) to wear poppies today, we had our just-back-from-cancer-treatment-cashier read In Flanders Fields over the PA in her lovely Scottish accent. Little lady customer wearing a hijab at the Express desk was in tears, she just moved here not long ago (I think  from Afghanistan) and was very moved by the whole thing.

Having said that, there's extra security everywhere today :(  ... Hubby actually got called to work the day shift today instead of tonight, they wanted the chopper in the air in case there was a problem somewhere during a ceremony. I weep that it's come to that, but I'm positively proud of this country that we can actually do this.

Thank you to vets everywhere for what you did for us...
