This was a good goal.

Fluke goal is was.  Looked like a kick that allowed the puck to ricochet behind Dubnyk and into the net before going in.  At least, that's the way it looked based on the video.

Dallas Stars lead 3 games to 1, defeating the Minnesota Wild 3-2 in Game 4.  The sluggish Wild can't seem to hold a candle to the flying Stars, particularly in the early stages of the game, even though all of the five goals were scored in the second period.

Game 5 goes Friday in Dallas.

Minnesota 5  Dallas 4  OT  Dallas leads series 3 games to 1.

What a Wild finish!  In a game that featured leads see-sawing back and forth, it took OT to establish a winner.  And how!

With the Stars ahead by a score of 4-3, thanks to Dallas' Alex Goligoski's goal that put the Stars in the lead, with just a few minutes remaining in the third period, the Wild's Miko Koivu directed a shot in front of Stars 'keeper Lehtonen and tied it all up forcing overtime.  Then, within the first few minutes of OT, Koivu redirected a Gary Suter blast from the point through a maze of traffic, as the puck sailed behind a screened Lehtonen.  End of game.  The Wild staved off elimination.

Whew!

Game 6 goes Sunday in Minnesota.

Dallas 5  Minnesota  4.  Stars win series 4 games to 2.

The Minnesota Wild nearly achieved the impossible: rallying back from a 5-O deficit by scoring four goals all in the third period, and coming within a whisker of tying it all up in the dying seconds in this same period.  If only....

Nothing's fair in sports, it is said, as some may say that the Wild deserved the victory, while others may counter that the Stars built up enough of a lead to win.  Say what you will, but the Dallas Stars are the victors who won a playoff series for the first time in eight years.

Not to take anything away from the Wild.  They were tenacious and determined,  but unfortunately their slow, sluggish start cost them dearly.  Natoh.

Congrats to both teams for a series well played.
