San Jose  3  Nashville  2.  Sharks lead series 2 games to 0.

Leave it to Sharks' Captain Joe Pavelski to score the important goal, and that's exactly what he did, as San Jose took a comfortable series lead.
Pavelski's goal in the third period sealed Nashville's fate for the night,

Though the Predators did a good job in shutting down San Jose's top line, there was no mistaking the top line for what it was--- too dangerous to let it out of sight in these playoffs.  The Predators were taught that lesson with the score tied at two,

Be on your guard or else, risk it.  And Captain Pavelski made short work of it.

Better luck in Nashville, Predators.

Game 3 goes Tuesday in Nashville.

Nashville  4  San Jose  3  30T  Series tied at 2 games apiece.

Leave it to the Predators' veteran Mike Fisher to provide the histrionics in his team's victory in tying the series against the Sharks.  Fisher, got the rebound in front of Sharks goaltender Martin Jones, and whirled the puck in the net, ending the game in the third overtime period.  Relief and euphoria!

This game provided plenty of entertainment in terms of posts hit, close calls, offsides missed, speed, hits, etc.  Surely the spectators had plenty of good hockey to watch.  In fact, both teams have won games in their own respective rinks.  A home and home series so for?  Exactly.

Game 5 shifts to San Jose Saturday.

Were the Sharks robbed?  Coach DeBoer thinks so.

Looked very much like goaltender interference on Pavelski's part.

San Jose  5  Nashvile  1.  Sharks lead series 3 games to 2.

Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture of the San Jose Sharks were a tour de force, as San Jose overpowered the Predators in a convincing win at the SAP Center in San Jose.

Couture's speed and Pavelski's  goals were too much to handle as Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne was replaced in favour of back-up 'keeper Colin Hutton in the third period.

Ah well, one of those games.  The Predators will attempt to stave off elimination when Game 6 shifts back to Nashville.  Good luck on that one.

Nashville  4  San Jose  3.  OT  Series tied 3 games to 3.

A backhander over Sharks goaltender Martin Jones was the goal that won it for the Predators in OT.  Give Viktor Arviddson credit for that one.

The Predators were determined to win it early in the overtime, as Nashville's James Neal found the net to tie the game up and send it to extra time.
The Predators, having fallen behind 2-0 after the first period, stormed back in the second, only to have San Jose's Logan Couture vaunt his team ahead.  Then came Neal's heroics, and finally Arviddson's cleverness.

Coming off a victory in Game 5, and eager to take the series in Nashville, the Sharks once again found themselves facing a doggedly determined opponent.

These two face off again in Game 7 which goes Thursday in San Jose.

5-0.  This postseason is full of weirdness in the West.  LA and Chicago eliminated in the first round.  Perennial playoff failures St. Louis and San Jose are going to face off in the Conference Finals.

SanJose 5  Nashville 0.  Sharks win series 4 games to 3.

The fact that Game 7 was played at home in San Jose practically made it a given that the Sharks would win.  Neither the Predators nor Sharks won a single game in this series on the road.

For Nashville, it had to have been a huge disappointment, considering that they were able to secure overtime wins in games in this series and continue to give themselves a chance.

This was not an easy series for both by any means, but in the end, with Nashville's defence breaking down -- Roman Josi & Shea Weber were a combined -5 rating and on the ice for all of the 5 Sharks goals -- plus the fact that the Sharks used their tremendous forecheck & speed and made the most of their opportunities.  Watching Nashville's goalie Pekka Rinne smash his stick on net repeatedly goes to show the frustration the losing team felt.

Oh well, that's playoff hockey, folks.

Congrats to San Jose on their march to the Western Conference Finals.
Also to Nashville on a series well-played.
