Sick of St Louis

I'm sorry, but this year has been the year of 'Hey Martin St Louis, you must be depressed about the Hockey man bringing you down.'

Every time I see this guy get interviewed these days he has the puppy dog eyes out about some emotional thing that has happened to him.

- I'm the little engine that could
- I didn't get picked for the Canadian Olympic Team
- Tampa Bay wants to trade me

Don't get me wrong, I love a good story, and I realize Hockey Players are humans too - but this one is getting old and tired. This guy makes more in a year than most of us will make in a lifetime and yet we have to watch him get emotional about how hard its been in the NHL, EVERY TIME he is interviewed.

PLEASE STOP Marty!

Sorry - I should have prefaced with 'prior to Martin St Louis mothers passing...' Didn't think I had to though....

people's experiences are subjective..it seems limited to think that because someone has financial success or good health that they'll never have anything to complain about.  I know i'm guilty of being upset about things despite there being people suffering worse fates in other parts of the world...i don't know many who don't...the difference is most of us don't have a microphone shoved in our face and then are asked about what we're thinking ...

It's been an 'emotional' year for St.Louis -- not being chosen, then chosen (in replacing another player) for Team Canada, then winning the Gold in Sochi; the trade to the Rangers after having played nearly 14 seasons with Tampa Bay, a lot of memories albeit bittersweet; the death of his beloved mother France at a time when he should have been enjoying and be excited to be plaing in the Stanley Cup playoffs, instead, he has been in mourning and at the same time he has to be emotionally in the proper psychological state of mind to concentrate on helping the Rangers realize their dream at a run for the Cup in these playoffs, etc.

It isn't easy, not for a hockey player nor for an ordinary person, no matter the sum of money they make.  We are all humans, as Marty St. Louis is too.

Sick shot. Sick shot of St Louis.

....at him?

How can you not like this guy? ( the op, not you busta ) There's always a choice between giving a crap and shutting off the tv and not whining about perceived whiners, Jeebus, how sorry, really?

I suppose I'd be more inclined to join the chorus of people who disagree with the OP if I had the slightest idea what, exactly, St. Louis is being accused of. He has sad looking eyes? He's constantly bringing up those three things unprompted? In what forum do hockey players bring up anything unprompted(all we ever tend to see are interviews where they're responding to questions)? Is this about anything specific he said? Is it about the narrative the media is pushing?

I was about to write, "Heck Yeah!!!!", until I read the first post and found out the thread is not about the Cardinals and how tired the OP is of them winning all the time.

Momentary lapses in depression and sadness doesn't prove he' not a whining cry baby.

But at the same time I agree with the idea that it's not his fault really. The media is what creates the stories and drives the message. They choose the clips and most certainly the questions. The idea that he may in any way be going out there to create this "poor me" situation is bogus. It's entirely in the minds of the media people to push a few more papers and a few more view counts.
