Steal of the 2015 Draft?

This is pretty good.  I won't spoil the article by telling you which prospect it's about: http://mapleleafshotstove.com/2015/07/26/one-eyed-toronto-maple-leafs-reporter-is-king/

SPOILER: It's Timashov.

(sorry, but that whole premise annoyed me haha)

I was very happy with that pick at the time, even moreso after reading that article. It really amazes me that he fell so far down. Even just looking at his draft year. Led one of the best teams in the Q in scoring. Had similar scoring outputs to teammates Adam Erne and Anthony Duclair, who are both 2 years older than Timashov and drafted in the 2nd and 3rd rounds respectively. He's small in stature but not in weight.

That article was annoyingly too long.  But the outcome is good!  Sounds like a playmaker.

So...anyone seen him play?  Is he worth getting excited over?  He was a part of the memorial cup, but i don't think i watched much of any of the Remparts games.

Gave up after about the fifth or sixth paragraph of that guy's parade of witticisms.  Talk about burying the lede.

I gave up about two sentences in. So is Timashov a good prospect then? If so, that's great!

I admit the first 900 or so words of the article were basically completely unnecessary, but once you get into the actual analysis it's a good look at Timashov and how he stacks up to other top prospects in the league.

Skip to the picture of Nylander (always a good place to start) and realize that they're talking about Timashov and it's a good article.

I agree, CTB's comments are seizure inducing, but I managed to extract this little tidbit from the chaos:

:)

The whole article purposefully keeps you in the dark about which prospects are being discussed in an attempt to remove some sort of bias. It then pretty clearly reveals which prospect is the subject of the piece at the end.

Contrived? A little. Confusing? Come on...

I bet you go to the mall and tell kids the truth about Santa too!

I remember when some people were pretty pumped about Didomenico, and Flaake, and _________ (add in your favourite draft steal).

All those times, yeah those guys were losers, but this time....

None of those were ever really on the basis of their draft year production being like this situation though.

Also, and apologies if this came up in that article, but while I'd say I'm generally pretty resistant to any instant analysis of who the steal of the draft might be I think I'd be a little more open to it if it were being said about someone like Dzierkals or someone who might have flown under the radar in an off the beaten path location.

Playing for the Remparts though, going to the Memorial cup...you have to assume that everyone got a pretty good look at him and there are some pretty smart teams in this league that didn't think he was worth a 4th round pick.

But, you know, fingers crossed and everything.
