Well, I guess that he is the greatest defenceman in Leafs history to be named "Eric Brewer".

Wow, a 14 minute ceremony for a guy who has played 9 games with the Leafs, and who is barely a 3rd pairing defenceman.  I appreciated his accomplishment, but that seems like overkill.

He's the greatest defenceman named Eric in Leafs history, the only one according to hockeydb.

I really hope that this is the most over-the-top ceremony we've ever seen. Like I want fireworks and Brewer should ride into the rink on a giraffe.

14 minute ceremony? Seems like more of a 90 second thing.

I don't think Sundin's ceremony lasted 10 minutes.  I might tune in to watch this trainwreck.

Pff, it was 15:35 according to youtube.  Considering their relative impacts upon the Leafs, I'd say 1:35 extra for Sundin makes sense.

That was for his jersey going into the rafters, which is a bigger deal than 1000 games too.

Yeah, but, how many shots did Sundin ever tip past Reimer/Bernier? Huh?

Typical start times for 7:30 games are actually 7:38 and 7:40 due to national anthems and the players entering the ice and taking a couple of laps.  The Brewer Silver Stick presentation won't be more than 5 minutes of the 14 min delay, so stop comparing it to Sundin's jersey raising ceremony.  Meghan Robinson doesn't pay much attention to pre-game stuff does she?

Captain Serious!

To be fair, Brewer has given me some memorable moments as a hockey fan. For instance, there was the time I was taking the "Name all of the 2002 Gold Medal team" quiz on sporcle and I remembered him in the nick of time to finish it.

A well-deserved response :)  In all seriousness, I'm a little irritated by all the hyperbole surrounding the team- from media and fans.  I do hope for giraffes though!

If somebody watching the game doesn't time Eric Brewer's ceremony to the exact second I'm going to be pretty disappointed.

I'm going to be disappointed if he doesn't play the game with his silver stick.  Hopefully it shoots flames every time he takes a shot.
