R2, G1: Panthers @ Maple Leafs - May 5th, 8:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

Just watched some other videos, the initial contact wasn't the elbow but his glove, so we'll see what DoPS does but a sucker punch to the head had better be at least 2 games.
As for retaliation I'm also on the side of just win the series, I think bringing Reaves in for a game would be a mistake. GO LEAFS!!!

The replay at Scotia was birds eye from the left of the net..... TV showed ice level replays and a birds eye from the right of the net.

The Scotia replay CLEARLY shows force and momentum of the elbow and the elbow extended to hit with that force to the back of the head. Which appears deliberate.

Its Bennett. The same guy who slew foot Tavares right at that spot 30 days ago and concussed Knies behind the net.

Maybe its just because I saw a different angle....but its surprising to me that people are giving benefit of the doubt here.

Of course the Colin Campbell nepotism will influence the DOPS decision (there is legal evidence that the relationship is corrupt) and so Berube will have to respond on the ice in some manner. But if its a soft response, more will come from Panthers. It needs to be escalated and impactful and on Bobrovsky.....not just Bennett.

I think the most impactful way to respond is to keep playing the way we are and bury these clowns in 4.

I made the mistake this morning of re-watching some of Bennett's previous handiwork. The hit that took out Knies was a blatant forearm to the face/head, followed of course by pile-driving his head into the ice. But the damage was already done by the hit to the face. Then there was the sucker punch to Marchand. And now he has taken out arguably the Leafs most important player with a similar shot to the head.

I've seen people arguing that it wasn't that hard of a hit, or that the end result was partly due to the puck to the face he took earlier. Maybe there is some truth to each of those, though the way Stolarz's head/neck moved sure looked like it was a forceful impact.

But the bottom line is that it was Bennett, a player who has taken out multiple players with sneaky (and sometimes not so sneaky) headshots in the past few years. That alone should merit an official review/hearing. The fact that the league is apparently choosing to look the other way is not surprising, but it is as disgusting as the player. I find my blood boiling today, but I'm also saddened for the state of the league - and I think I'm pretty close to walking away from NHL hockey after this season ends. What a joke it's become.

Joe Woll, stay healthy. The Leafs need to pound anyone who comes anywhere near him the rest of the series.

I hope Stolarz can come back. And if he does make it clear to Bennett that if he comes within five feet of him Bennett will play the Tree and Anthony will take the role of Paul Bunyan.

After the clear elbow to Tavares' head didn't even result in a fine, I'm not surprised the league isn't going to punish Bennett, because they're clearly not serious about protecting players and reducing hits to the head. Nothing's going to change until someone gets killed, at this rate.

Or crosscheck.

The good news is that Stolarz is out of the hospital and at the rink, rather than chilling out in a dark room like Andreas Johnsson had to for nearly a month. I don't expect him to play the rest of this series (for precautionary reasons) to make sure there are no lingering symptoms after a couple of weeks.

I also don't expect the Leafs to go red mist about this right away. Maybe if we're up in the series by 3 games and it's the third period up 4 goals (or the opposite end of the spectrum).

The best and most important way they can stick up for Stolarz is to win the series so he can get back in between the pipes.

Yep dressing Reaves to be a defensive liability isn't worth it. Florida wins the battle if we pull this crap. Now, should we encourage Patches to take a run or two at Bennett, absolutely but he will do that all on his own.

Parros isn't our friend. We absolutely get suspended and on the PK and that plays into Florida's playbook

The best thing Leafs can do to win is remove Brobovsky. The entire game changed last night after the intentional elimination of the Leafs MVP. Its the goalie ffs.

Any team that can't do what it takes to win will not win and that's why Panthers win and other teams lose. Lady Bing is for the birds. A Cup requires winning at all costs. Bob has to go.

If Woll plays well, like he has in his small playoff history, he'll be the guy. We all knew at some point Woll would play and now we're here.

This isn't about Woll v Stolarz. The Panthers took runs at Woll too.

See where not responding in kind gets this team. Done in 4 games from now and an injury list worse than Tampa. And maybe Hildeby in net too.

It's crap the way the NHL treats it's cash cow. They know no matter what they'll generate the revenue so don't
bother treating them fairly.

It's crazy, but it's true. Pronger would get suspended multiple times per playoffs. There is no consequence. Kyper broke Fuhr's leg accidentally on purpose. This is a strategy used to win. This is the NHL.
