Needed the cap room/flexibility to sign Marner for whatever number he agrees to with Vegas, and still sign/trade some of the littler deals (Maccelli) in the meantime?

Can go over the cap by 10% in the offseason. There’s plenty space for all of it right now.

Yeah, I believe so. With the Marner trade still not official, the leafs are about $3m over the cap with Knies locked in. They can go $9.5M over the cap and there would definitely be salary going out in a deal of that magnitude. A Hertl deal, at this point, would just get wrapped into the Marner trade, so, that’s an easy move to make work (in the unlikely event it happens).

Mikael Granlund, Adam Gaudette, Michael Eyssimont, Anthony Mantha, Henri Jokiharju, Max Pacioretty, Josef Korenar. That is all.

I'd be intrigued by Boeser and the other Tanev (though that's partly the romance of having brothers on the team).

JVR for league minimum could be a fun one too.

I'd also like to see a scoring defenseman brought in, but not sure if that's a free agency thing. Burns is old and not what he was.

Definitely thought about Brandon Tanev but with his age, and what he'll probably command dollars wise, probably best to spend the money elsewhere.

Boeser, yeah but I don't think the money would work out.
 
Brandon Tanev and Shayne Gostisbehere on the same team would be really funny to me, so I think Carolina will scoop him up.

Yeah, I think the writing was on this wall this spring on Reaves. He's just not an NHL player anymore.
 
I hope Treliving's "DNA change" wont be a re-hash of Burke's truculence blueprint. Pezzetta doesn't make me encouraged
