2025-26 NHL Thread

ACL involved

Barkov in surgery today, so I'm guessing the scans showed enough damage that they needed to pop in for a closer look and repair. Season-threatening injury.

This sucks for Barkov and Finnish Olympics.

They will have his LTIR amount to work with to replace him during the season, but Florida would need to re-clear that space for the playoffs if he is ready to play in April. Not impossible, but quite improbable.

People already clamouring for a Malkin trade (or Crosby-Marchand reunion)

Crosby in FLD, barf. I would actually be surprised if they don't get one. Best option for the timeframe they have.

The league fined Tampa 100K and Jon Cooper 25K.

The league is a joke. It's so transparent how much they play favourites with Colin's little boy.

This is fine. (Retribution for playoffs… Hagel
on Barkov hit, for which Ekblad elbowed Hagel out of the series after)

This is 4 games because he did it for retribution from a couple days earlier. Also because the Panthers are an endangered species and need protection.
4 games? That's insane for that. I hate FLD. I want Bennett to be concussed so bad he pukes the next time the Leafs play them.

They don’t want to deal with the (alleged gambling/stealing) drama
Wait, what?

*Edit: What a bizarre story. Essentially there is a claim that he scammed $50k out of an influencer and gambled it all. I didn't realize this but there's also controversy about his birth year and location. Some unresolved shadiness with this guy for sure... and I had no idea!

Keep your gloves on and all you get is a fine. Drop them and it's a suspension - though Sabourin's reputation/history definitely played into things.

It's the team getting fined that is the most ridiculous. Both teams participated in this. Why does only one get punished? NHL and selective punishment are best friends once again.
