    Leafs acquire Brandon Carlo

Good point. D-zone starts is a very important consideration when reviewing his stats. I wasn't that familiar with him. That is the way it should be with good defensive dmen - you don't notice them. He's a big, decent top four right handed dman who played pretty well for the Bruins - regular...

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

If this team can perform decently in the playoffs, they're in a decent cap position next year. They have a lot of salaries locked in for next season.

    Leafs acquire Scott Laughton

I don't think Kampf is tradeable. With his bonus, you can't even waive him practically. Horrible contract for the Leafs

    Leafs acquire Scott Laughton

Makes me wonder about Minten for a RH dman ... If they re-sign Tavares, they'd have to get rid of Kampf for him to play as center on the 4th line. Maybe it is another season in the AHL for him ... They need some of these cheap young guys to fill out the roster under the cap

    Leafs acquire Scott Laughton

Every GM in the league agreed with you last fall when he cleared waivers.

    Leafs acquire Scott Laughton

The picks, another year on his deal and retention help. Still overpayment. But it is a seller's market

TSN says that is what it is. Ugh

    2024-25 General Trades and Signings

On the other end of the scale, '64 Leafs Horton, Stanley, Brewar, Baun - I reflected on those guys as I thought about it. Baun was the least skilled but I liked him. In the physical condition they were in at that time, with their old equipment, etc, they would probably have a tough time cracking...

    2024-25 General Trades and Signings

I haven't thought about where he fits in Leafs history but he was a very special player. I did not realize how special until we got to see him as a Leaf. Maybe it is emotional but I'm probably partial to Salming who was not as skilled but had stronger other elements to his game.

    Armchair GM Thread 2024-25

I always liked Schenn but I handily prefer Tavares. He probably wouldn't be as good as he was the last time but his brother still intrigues me as a pairing with Rielly (though I have not seen him much at all this year so I'm not sure). But I guess Dubas, like everyone else, is going to squeeze...

    2024-25 General Trades and Signings

Window to win a Cup might look almost shut if things like Marner departs, Tanev's age starts to show, Rielly & Matthews don't bounce back, the goalies start to show warts, etc. I have a feeling the max window is Matthews current contract. With Marner's UFA status, they don't have many decent...

    2024-25 General Trades and Signings

1st rounders for 3rd liners. I have a feeling it is going to be a quieter deadline (it already seems that way) with those prices which will lead some GMs under pressure to do some crazy sort of deal. As Friedman said, whatever the Leafs do, the assets won't come cheap. Treliving is in a tough...

    Armchair GM Thread 2024-25

I think the business he is in is much less secure than it used to be. He's just trying to survive and keep relevant like the rest of us.

    Ranking Prospects 2024-25

He's at the bottom of the Marlies +/- stats. No gaudy points totals. He never seems to be a thought or in discussions for a call up - still down the depth chart after nearly 2 AHL seasons. Whether it is his on ice performance or perceptions off the ice, actions seem to speak louder than words.

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

As long as they fall shot, there will be woulda, coulda, shouldas no matter what. See the Kerry Fraser no-call high stick .. Matthews, Marner, Nylander & Tavares combined for 16% of the Leafs ice time in the playoffs last year. But the Leafs who got the other 84% of the ice time had nothing...

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I'm not positive He was recalled Nov 12th and sent back Nov 30th on an emergency basis He was recalled Feb 18th and reportedly returned Mar 1st? If both Nov 12th and Nov 30th count and Feb 18th and Mar 1st count, then he might have needed waivers because that would tally 31. But he never played...
