    Penguins vs. Maple Leafs - Mar. 2nd, 1:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

Average length of a NHL career is 5 years. 32 teams. If a good player lasts 15 years in the league and over that time, his team has average odds of winning a cup (which wouldn't be likely for a great player as his team would likely have better chances but ..) generically, there is over 62%...

    Penguins vs. Maple Leafs - Mar. 2nd, 1:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

Beyond 700th point for Matthews: Matthews passed Sittler into 2nd place in all-time Leafs goal scoring, 30 goals behind Sundin Nylander passed Pulford for 10th place in all time Leafs goal scoring Marner passed George Armstrong into 5th place in all time Leafs scoring behind only Sundin...

The "Mr T" Man of the Match 2024-25 Edition

88 2 Knies will probably get more votes and maybe deservedly so but I liked Benoit's play today. Hopefully, he can keep that going.

    Penguins vs. Maple Leafs - Mar. 2nd, 1:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

Odd game. Glad they got the 2 points. Nylander's vision and timing to use a crossing Pens player for a screen was exquisite. The guy is an artist sometimes when it comes to scoring. Putting it all together on the fly ..

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Only 6 teams are more than 6 points out of a playoff spot Three of them have already used all their 3 retained salary options. (SJS, CHI, NSH) Pens have used 2. BUF & SEA none. A team could be brought in to help with that but it is harder to put that 3 way deal together and probably more...

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

OEL, Lorentz & Domi are nursing injuries and will be a game time decision tomorrow. There is a good chance Jarnkrok will be cleared to play tomorrow - if not, then soon. Maybe I'm missing something but unless someone goes on IR/LTIR, they may have to make a roster decision on a NHLer (not...

Nice remarks from Mark Lamb on Valis. Might be a late bloomer. Seems to anticipate well on where to be to finish in the clips I saw.

    2024-25 General Trades and Signings

I haven't seen him much in Chicago. His coaches handily gave him the most ice time there - he's top 4 in the league for TOI/GP over the last few seasons. Can't imagine Florida's D as anything but significantly improved. He'll help make up for the losses of Montour and OEL.

    2024-25 NHL Thread

Reports are saying it is an upper body injury, I'd guess his shoulder. He legs did look awkwardly twisted as he went into the boards but he put weight on both as he left the ice with the trainer supporting his arm If they were contemplating trading him, it doesn't seem likely after this.

    Rangers vs. Maple Leafs - Feb. 28th, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

Haven't seen anything on OEL's injury Leafs are now 4th in point win% with the tie breaker. Considering all that has gone on with the coaching change, injuries, underachievers, etc, it could have been worse.

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I don't know why they wouldn't at least try him. He's taken nearly as many draws as Max Domi. His faceoff win% is close to Domi's - both around 48.x% He skates well. He's smart and decent defensively. He's a decent PKer. Healthy, he might be better than anyone else they have for that role. He...

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Biggest bottom six disappointment for me is Domi. If he isn't scoring, which has hasn't this season, he's so clueless defensively at times when he throws the puck away, he's addition by subtraction. I expected more. I'm not Robertson's biggest fan but at least the guy has made a credible...

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Tavares is so good at faceoffs and I think that has a longer shelf life. Hard to ignore. I think he's underestimated defensively. He's not best used as a speedy winger going deep for the forecheck though his skating speed clocked pretty well in preseason as I recall. If they do this: Matthews...

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Maybe it is a "how do we get him healthy for the playoffs?" 'day-to-day' It didn't seem too bad but with his injury history, they won't be rushing him back. A spot opens up to help them decide what useful depth they've got for the playoffs. If they're ever going to use Hakanpaa (probably...

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I've liked Tavares. He's still got some ability left. But I don't know if I would re-sign him. Price, term and circumstances have to be 'right' It is complicated by Minten - who might need more development time and whoever they bring in to help at center. If they bring in a 2nd line center with...

    Bruins vs. Maple Leafs - Feb. 25th, 7:00pm - TSN4, Fan 590

It looked like a shoulder separation type problem to me. Previous shoulder injury in 2022 was dislocated - not separated plus the torn labrum. It did not seem that bad last night ... except with his history - that is where it gets iffy. It is up to Tanev and his docs & medical/training staff...
