I was caught up in the Marchand fantasy like everyone else, but my rational side kept nagging me saying that contract is going to be such an anchor. And seeing that now, I think it will be a terrible contract.

I get it - and I’m not really disagreeing as the numbers don’t lie I suppose, but I have a very hard time believing that if he was with the Leafs he would get away with his style of play. He’d be gone in the first round. I also can’t think of any other player that had these crazy reverse...

I agree with you, and he’s he did step up in the playoffs, but, as you mention, he doesn’t really excel at anything and doesn’t really fit in anywhere. I just feel they can do better, and even to get some draft capital back would be nice. But I don’t think there’s much interest in him.
