    Red Wings @ Leafs - Oct. 13th, 2:00pm - Amazon Prime

Because Primeau had been practicing with the team, there was some conjecture he might start and Stolarz play Nashville tomorrow:

Red Wings vs. Leafs - Oct. 11th, 7:00pm - SN

Cowan and Maccelli are too small for that stuff. Jarnkrok played with these guys for a couple of years before Berube. He was around doing rehab - not in the AHL. He's watching the games. He's hearing from the guys all season. He's attending the practices and video sessions long before he is...

Red Wings vs. Leafs - Oct. 11th, 7:00pm - SN

They do have the benefit of their starting goalie and top 7 dmen returning. With Rielly looking like he's rebounding and Carlo here for the full season, that is a pretty good foundation. Tanev & McCabe look fine. They're just trying to settle the 3rd pairing among 3 dmen who played here last...

Having noticed and looked at the team speed McMann-Domi-Robertson - are the three fastest forwards Joshua-Roy-Jarnkrok - are the three slowest forwards Maybe that factored into their thinking ... ???

Red Wings vs. Leafs - Oct. 11th, 7:00pm - SN

I think that sentence I bolded above is right on. New systems or adjustments make players hesitate or think rather than quick reads and react. So I looked at NHL Edge numbers. Recently, I mentioned an article I'd seen that the team was below average speed last season. Not according to NHL...

Red Wings vs. Leafs - Oct. 11th, 7:00pm - SN

It is missing some PP quarterbacking DNA that was around for 9 years, had the team 3rd in the league in PP% and the GM felt was disposable. It is going to take them more than a couple of games to sort it out. There is definitely enough talent there to do better than they did but Rielly-Maccelli...

Red Wings vs. Leafs - Oct. 11th, 7:00pm - SN

They were supposedly below average speed last year. Someone did some analysis on that. On paper, they got slower adding the grit DNA. They looked slower in preseason. I'm not the only one to observe that. To me, they looked slower against the Habs. And they looked slower against the Wings as...

    Canadiens @ Leafs - Oct. 8th, 7:00pm - SN1, TSN 1050

That game was much closer than the score indicates. It was disjointed and sloppy as games early on are so it is hard to get a read on where those teams are at. There were some encouraging flashes from a number of Leafs. It is going to take a number of games to see how this roster shakes out. An...

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

He's the only waiver exempt skater so I suspect it will be inevitable that he will see more time than he likes in the AHL to help them manage under the cap. To have Quillan on the opening roster to save themselves $1,500 cap space tells you a bunch of what you need to know about their priorities...

McDavid Extends in Edmonton: 2 years @ 12.5M AAV (!!!!)

Maybe they have something lined up with Carter Hart .. though that would be quite a leap in a short period of time after what he has been through. He is a UFA that doesn't have to clear waivers ... Edmonton would present a good shot at a Cup plus not stiff competition to win the starter's job.

McDavid Extends in Edmonton: 2 years @ 12.5M AAV (!!!!)

They all had warts. They passed on Primeau too. One could make the argument that none of these goalies were better than Skinner or Pickard at this time. One of them might develop ... "all the evidence to the contrary" is likely to lead to some sort of change. I'd bet they beat the bushes this...

Leafs claim Primeau and Blais off waivers

I think you meant Hildeby is waivers exempt The one wrinkle is if they were thinking of bringing Kampf back to fill in for Laughton. If they try, they have 24 on the roster and cap space issues. So the 'simple' alleviation would be to send Cowan to the AHL - which I'm not sure is their...

McDavid Extends in Edmonton: 2 years @ 12.5M AAV (!!!!)

I'm not so sure. There are a number of opinions like this: https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/edmonton-oilers/players/connor-ingram-is-not-the-edmonton-oilers-savior Utah retained $800,000 of his salary and got future considerations (nothing) from the Oilers. He cleared waivers Sept 25th or so -...

McDavid Extends in Edmonton: 2 years @ 12.5M AAV (!!!!)

McDavid obviously wants to win a Cup. He's buying them a good player. They'll probably be in on the three goalies on the waiver wire. Not sure why they wouldn't offer a low round pick to get one. Pickard can be waived to make room. Dipietro, Daws and Stevenson are all at around $800k - less...
