I don't know if this is original or not but I'd say this is a great marketing idea.

Yeah, that's a great idea. Worked out quite well that they both used the same number.

And it's happening on the night LA and Carter come into town.

That worked out as great marketing for the Jackets. Wonder how many people took them up on that offer? Even more interesting is that Johnson scored the GWG.

Found this article on on Yahoo about Dale Hunter's relationship with defenceman John Erksine:

Asked f Hunter had talked to him much lately, Erskine replied: ?Who? Dale? He hasn?t talked to me one little bit. I talk to [assistant coaches] Deano [Evason] and Jimmy Johnson here and there, but that?s about it.?

Erskine said Hunter has not spoken to him since Jan. 18, when he took a double-minor for high sticking and a minor for elbowing all on the same play. He was a healthy scratch the following game.

One of the few things about Hunter so far this season that has made me raise an eyebrow. I was pretty surprised that the Capitals only gave him a contract for the remainder of this season, now it's looking somewhat likely that that's all he get.

Odd. Not the reputation I hear about him as a Knights coach.  Maybe it's one of those things where a good junior coach/communicator just isn't a good adult coach.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2012/03/12/nhl_gms_optimistic_rule_changes/

Some rule changes proposed:

...a hybrid icing rule that would see the faceoff circle being used as the marker where a play can be blown dead. It's already in place in NCAA hockey and is designed to keep players from crashing into the end boards while racing back for the puck.

Under the new proposal, icing would be called if the defending player crossed the faceoff circle first. The play would be allowed to continue in instances where the attacking player was leading the race.

...elimination of hand passes in the defensive zone -- an infraction that could become a penalty. The GMs feel too many players are using the ability to glove the puck with their hand as a tactic on faceoffs.

None of the other items...gained much support, including the possible re-introduction of the red-line. The majority of the managers also remain in favour of keeping the trapezoid that prevents goaltenders from playing the puck in the corners.

So Radulov jumps ship for Mother Russia so he can make Moe money then wants to jump back cause the team seems like a true contender and he thinks he can win a Stanley Cup. Can't wait what Don Cherry has to say about that.

Has Radulov even commented on this? I've only read Poile opened the door for him and hopes he might come back, said he hasn't even spoken with him.

Maybe it's best if we had another lockout this upcoming season. I mean the last lockout seemed to knock the Leafs into irrelevance, maybe we need another lockout to "reboot" the Leafs back into a playoff team?  ;D ;D

No official comments from Radulov, but it's looking very likely that he will indeed come back.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I'm actually hoping he comes in and dominates.
