I was going to say Tampa... but maybe they feel they're too far gone.

TB has won 4 in a row and might not be dead yet.  Picking him up would make them better.  If Yzerman can find at least one solid d-man I think they are a threat again.

They've had a nice run but it's extremely difficult to jump more than 1 team. Their next 3 games are all against teams they are chasing. They have to sweep all 3 and even then there's no guarantee they're back in the race.  If they lose to either Florida or Washignton, two teams that are currently 7 points up on them it becomes even more difficult for them.

Wait, isn't Burke imminently trading Kadri for Antero?

They're still 9 points out of a playoff spot. That 4 game winning streak didn't really help them gain much ground on the teams ahead of them. They pretty much have to go 15 games above .500 to make the playoffs. If they're not already done, they'll be done soon.

Yeah that sports club stats site gives them 6% chance to make it.

It appears Tampa had indeed thrown in the towel...

SJS's Antero Nittymaki clears waivers as does LAK's Cam Paddock.

Yeah, even if they get a goalie that becomes red hot, their defense is still awful.

Or they just don't consider Niittymaki to be an upgrade over what they have.

Which is what, Goldberg from Mighty Ducks?

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Hearing CAR's Anthony Stewart is being put on today's waiver wire at 12 noon ET. Stewart has one more full season at $900K on his contract.

I'd do it. Drop Rosehill for him.

Yeah, I think I would do that also. How many fights does Rosehill have and how many would he realistically have until the end of the season. Stewart has size, I don't know too much about him, or whether he uses said size. But I don't really see a problem with a move like that, he could be a better fit here and score on a pace like he did in Atlanta, vs. Florida or Carolina.

You'd have two enforcers on the Marlies though, so I think Burke would have to find somebody to take one of them and it wouldn't be Orr, because of his salary. So I don't see this happening, but I wouldn't mind if it did.

TSNBobMcKenzie: SJS put Andrew Murray on waivers. BOS puts Zach Hamill on waivers. And, as reported earlier, CAR puts Anthony Stewart on waivers.

He hasn't been credited with a ton of hits and not using his size to his advantage has been one of the primary criticisms of him since he drafted.

Hamill to eh? A couple of these guys could get claimed I think.

Hamill cleared earlier in the season (or was it last season) and hasn't really done anything at either to AHL or NHL levels to really entice anyone to take him. He's still young, but he's definitely trending towards busts status.

Well, I'm going with the belief that AHL teams need players too.

Well, then they'd just have to throw that player right back on waivers to either be claimed by someone else or, most likely, returned to their original team who can then bypass waivers and send him down to their AHL team.

Yeah, so I guess Burke would have to gamble on whether or not they could bring that out of him. They aren't using Rosehill right now. He'd also have to beat somebody else out for a spot, that would probably be Crabb or Boyce.

Stewart is being waived? I'd like to know why before claiming him, seems like a cheap useful player, just what Carolina needs...

I don't really have an issue with that. There are probably a bunch of scrubs who want to fight Orr to make a name for themselves. Having Rosehill down there would probably take the heat off him and give him the chance to reinvent himself as a true grinder (puck retriever) instead of a fighter.
