2012 NHL Entry Draft

No, I got that. What I'm saying is, Rielly could end up being the best player in the draft, or good enough to be picked at 5, or a complete bust. Without him playing a game, we'll never know if Burke's words had merit or if he is just as delusional as you think he is. Your anger towards Burke shows a complete lack of faith in Rielly. It's like you're saying he couldn't possibly be that good because Burke picked him.

I wonder what other gms think when burke makes statements like that.

Probably something akin to what Alex Ferguson thinks when Leyton Orient's manager starts yammering.

Excuse me but I support Leyton Orient and I'll have you know that our manager (Russell Slade) is highly respected within the game (although not necessarily by all of our fans).

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Leafs trade rights to Jonas Gustavsson to Winnipeg in exchange for conditional 7th-rounder in 2013. Gustavsson is UFA July 1

P.S. I think Johan Franzen is hugely underrated. Miserable to play against, 30 goal scorer and a 3rd round pick. Seems a massive steal to me.

One 30 goal season, injuries are already taking their toll on him, he was 24 when he was drafted, so his career was already prematurely shortened . . . a good pick and a good player, and, a steal, sure, but, not someone I'd call a massive steal or anything, but, that's getting into a semantic argument.

Considering that only 2 players from the 2004 draft have more career goals than Franzen (the no. 1 and no. 2 picks in the 2004 draft, Ovechkin and Malkin), there's no way I'm calling Franzen anything other than a huge steal at the end of the 3rd round at 97th overall. And I'm not even discussing his defensive game or his physical play which are A+ attributes. Teams had 94 chances to pick a better forward after Malkin than Franzen and no team did. Definitely a huge steal.

Seeing as how we have a hiatus until our next pick here's a little more info on Matthew "Mickey" Finn:

"Patrick King says: Finn is one of the quicker rising prospects in the draft after a successful second half to his season unlocked the hidden promise to his game. He showed more poise and confidence rushing the puck and displays good potential as an offensive defenceman. His defensive game could use some improvement, but considering his quick rise and potential, Finn will be a valued prospect."

Something for nothing.  I'll take it.

That's a trade where you might ask, why bother? Unless the condition is a higher pick if he signs with Winnipeg.

My guess is the condition on the pick that the Leafs only get it if he signs with Winnipeg.

:'(

I have a strange emotional attachment to Gus.

Me too.  I was really hoping he'd be the answer, but no.  Good luck to you, Monster, hope you sign and stick with the Jets.
