I'd actually lean towards Morrow. Reward the guy who had the better season in 2012, and did so for the Jays.

really? I think it's going to be Buehrle in a lock.

Maybe mid 2000's Buehrle. No way next year. He's the 4th starter.

You really think the Jays took him on, with that contract, to be the 4th starter on this team?
If all goes well in every possible way for JJ, Morrow and Romero, then he may end up being the 4th best starter on the depth chart but as of right now, he's expected to be the rock on that staff. He may not have the best stuff compared to JJ or Morrow, but he's the one bringing the consistency and the experience.
I think as a symbol of that, they have him start opening night.. but hey, just my opinion.

Andy007 said:Well somebody has to be. Romero is a year removed from ace output; Morrow piched like an ace last year and Johnson had a 2.30 era in 2010. Having any one of those pitchers as the "4th starter" doesn't make any more sense, does it?

I have no problem with Romero as the 4th based on what we saw last year. He's lucky he hasn't been disposed.
All four of these guys are "ace" material and they have all kind of been labelled that at some point or another ... it will be a matter of who delivers but Buehrle is the incumbent based on consistency, seniority and success, IMO.
I don't think the Jays are really trying to rank them at this point anyway but rather looking at them as a pool of some pretty high end potential and mostly established. The only guy on that list I have no questions about what I'm going to get though is Buehrle.

Nik V. Debs said:I doubt it. I think that if Gibbons was his choice in terms of "gut" or whatever then A) We wouldn't have heard about all of the various other guys who were considered/interviewed/offered the job and B) we would have heard about Gibbons before this.

Flip Morrow and Buerhle, and that's roughly what I expect for the rotation if they don't add another starter.

I mean, Olney's a pretty good reporter, but he said Riggleman was in the running when he hadn't even been interviewed and that's just one example.

Who said Riggleman hadn't been interviewed?

His agent said he had not been contacted by the Jays.
