Confirmed Olympic injuries:

-Tavares out for season
-Zetterberg out for 8 weeks
-Zuccarello out 3-4 weeks

Zetterberg's injury was inevitable.  He has had back problems for a long time, and a herniated disc wasn't something that magically happened because of the single exhibition game he played.  Just to put some balance toward the list.

Well, it's an Olympic casualty in the context that Detroit's management didn't want him going in the first place, so by going he sacrificed 2-3 weeks rest that may have allowed him to defer surgery til off-season.

Doesn't really sound like Holland is upset:

"The injury to Henrik, really in my opinion, had nothing to do with Olympics. It's been an issue that set in in December, which he worked hard to overcome. Whether in the Olympics or NHL, it probably would have been the same situation.

"In 2002, Stevie Yzerman played in the Olympics, didn't play another game for us, then helped us win the Stanley Cup. I'm not going to sit here and judge our players. With Pavel, he has been a warrior for us since he showed up in 2001. I'm not sure where we'd be without him. He knows his body better than anybody, and I think he's earned the right to make the decision based on how his body feels."

Plus Ken Holland is part of the Canada managment team, not to mention Babcock, how could they really say he shouldn't play?

I heard they weren't happy about Z going, but obviously that quote would suggest otherwise.

Two injury updates to keep an eye out for are Toews and Duchene.

Duchene injured his knee yesterday and Toews looks as if he messed up his shoulder tonight against Pittsburgh.

Those 2 being out could potentially change the outlook of the playoffs in the Western Conference.
