detroit should be ticked too...no yzerman and no fedorov.

Still no Yzerman..

I can understand him not playing because of his knee and everything, but from the sounds of it he doesn't even plan on appearing. There's something very wrong with that.

What are the odds Sundin gets Domi and May on his wings?

:) (With all due respect to the others.)

Does he find it inappropriate because he is GM of another team currently?

He might, and yet, Nieuwendyk clearly does not.

That's what led me to wonder why he wasn't added.. I never knew his knee was THAT bad, I'm sure its better than Johnny bowers ;) Unless he is the final piece de resistance!

Still waiting to hear that he'll have Hoglund on his wing.

Weren't there whispers that Detroit wasn't thrilled with him leaving for the Tampa job?

Maybe it's medical.  Although one game shouldn't hurt.

If he can't actually suit up that's all fine, but there's a number of players (like the older ones) who will be appearing and not playing. He should at least be there in public instead of watching the game on TV like he said he would.

I don't recall any, and if there were it'd be pretty unreasonable for Detroit to take it personally. He worked with the team for 4 seasons, it was about time for him to take the next step and that wasn't going to happen in Detroit with Holland still on board.

Quite the opposite, if I recall correctly. Holland and Co. very much encouraged him to take the opportunity.

See, what I remember, is that while there were smiles and handshakes publicly there were some who were saying that privately they didn't think he was ready and they didn't like how it went down.

But I fully accept that my memory could be faulty on this one.

Well, this may be a hint at what I remembered but I admit it's not quite as I put it and might not mean much:

With Yzerman in demand, however, Detroit had looked into potentially shifting him into the GM's role recently. Owner Mike Ilitch told a local radio station earlier this month, he had asked current GM Ken Holland if he would consider becoming the team president to allow Yzerman to be promoted, but Holland declined.

I'm surprised that Ilitch was looking to make that switch so soon. And it's probably for the best that Holland declined. Yzerman really hasn't impressed me much in Tampa.

Alright. A year late, but its back on, and HBO is on board too.

It should be a great day for hockey!

I can't wait for the "Where's Kessel" segment, followed closely by Phaneuf's "My music" bit. Should be a great show. Too bad Christpher guest was busy...
