I wish we had Leafs reference points like this. You know, besides Gretzky on Gilmour.

I mean, I could just as easily list my top 5 Leafs goals.

Sundin's GTG with seconds left against Carolina would be a pretty good comparison to that home-run.

That's the craziest, most intense baseball game I've ever watched.  I had tears in my eyes when Bautista hit that out.

My feelings exactly.  That 7th inning was the greatest sports sequence I have ever watched.

I was so emotionally exhausted after.  I was shaking, my eyes were welling, and my stomach was about to heave.

I was thinking Gilmour's wraparound but, you know, it all works.

I couldn't help but think that Price and Stroman's side celebration was a sign that Price will re-sign with the Jays in the offseason.

I just want to say, that smug f$@#ING grin on Banister's f@$#ing face after the call went his way made me so f@#$ING angry that I went to my garage and smoked 3 cigarettes in a row.  I was invested.

What a roller coaster that game was! Count me among those who were emotionally exhausted by the end.

Glad it didn't come down to the Martin "error"... that would have been the worst ending ever!

Definitely a top 5 all-time Jays playoff homerun by Joey Bats. It ranks up there with Carter, Alomar and Sprague.

K.C. should be fun given the animosity between these two teams earlier in the year. It took 30 years, but time to get even with the Royals for 85.

LETS GO BLUE JAYS!  8)

I'd like David Price to finish his career with the Jays.

So it's Jays / KC.  I remember the 1985 first ever playoff series against KC vividly.  I've been waiting 30 years for revenge on this team.  No Jim Sundberg this time. Go Jays Go!

Jose's response to this (it's in the article) is the greatest of all time.

I gotta say, I love that there was an interview with home plate ump Dale Scott after the game where he clearly explained what happened in the top of the 7th.  It's nice to get that sort of openness from the officials.

Yep, who cares what the rule is the Ump called the play dead. While the play was live no one attempted anything due to the ump waving it off. It was complete utter BS regardless of the rule. The ump should know the rules... the beef should of been from the Rangers towards the ump because the ump stopped a live play because he didn't know the rules.

Anyway, the play pissed off Bautista which lead to the epic bat flip. I loved how the bat didn't even spin just straight up and down.

I guarantee if that Martin play did not happen Texas would not of had 3 straight errors. The atmosphere was so tense the Rangers couldn't handle it. Kuddo's to the fans for the energy generated last night and to Gibbons for his efforts and protest.

I was at the Carolina game, although epic in the moment they lost the game which took away from the moment.

Yup, and he explained what pretty much everyone thought I think. Called time at first but quickly realized his mistake. Let the runner score because common sense dictated that there was no way a Jay was going to throw him out. I mean I was angry with it at the time, and I still probably would be if we lost, but I get it. I'm just used to a hockey mentality where common sense can never come into play. I mean imagine a ref blew his whistle incorrectly for whatever reason and then a second later a goal was scored that would have been even if the whistle didn't go. There's no way that goal could have stood. And then don't get me started about refs being allowed to use common sense logic to make a call (like when you can't see a puck pass the line but you know that it physically had to).

And of course like you said, it is pretty great that the MLB makes/allows the umps to take questions like these. Would be huge if the NHL did that instead of constantly hiding/sheltering them.

Your probably right about the Jays not having a chance at home plate but it's not their fault the ump called the play dead and they didn't even have the opportunity to try... but I suppose it's common sense to assume there was no way. It still pisses me off that the ump was waiving his arm during the "live" ball.
