So that Mitch Marner guy?  12 points (7G 5A) in the first 3 games of their playoff series against Kitchener.

That's nuts. Didn't the Knights sell off some pieces at the deadline because they didn't think it was their year? What's the mood around there now? Can Marner carry them through?

I'm feeling more and more that between the two of them, Strome is the solid can't-go-wrong safe pick and Marner is the pick which might pay the biggest dividends.

I want both.

IMO Strome is a large 1C that we are looking for. Marner is exciting in the OHL, but his size may limit him.

McDavid, Eichel, Hanifin, Strome, Marner. Honestly, I'd be happy with any of those. Less so outside of the top five of course, so here's hoping for 4th!

Phaneuf, Kessel, and especially Booth, have targeted the 6th overall pick!  >:(

His size is grossly overstated as a negative.  He has a strong core and lower body.  It's like saying Patrick Kane can't be good.

Goaltending and their defensive units will let them down but yeah it's still a very good team.

And Jake Paterson has looked terrible in net for Kitchener, from what little I saw and looking at his .800 SV%.

Zach Fucale isn't even starting for his team in the Q's playoffs. Man, Canada's goalies blow.

I feel like every good Canadian goalie is basically Justin Pogge.  Give them an elite team and they can win but if not, watch out.

Paterson is a good goalie.  The Knights Offense has just gone gangbusters.  He sucked in Game 3.

It looks like London's set to play Erie in round 2. That'll be interesting.

Once the Knights split up Dvorak-Domi-Marner their offense has been much better for balance.  Losing McCarron was still a big blow when they traded him away but their offensive depth is solid.

McDavid is much better than Domi.
Strome and Marner pretty much cancel out.
Dvorak is a reasonable comparable to DiBrinicat
Rupert I would honestly take over Remi Elie (at the OHL level).

Their forward matchups are still fairly even but Erie has a better defense.  Parsons with his new pads and an opportunity to run with things is actually probably the better of the two goaltenders.  It should be a fun series.  Erie did win 5 of 6 games during the Regular season though.

Not sure if this was discussed elsewhere on the boards, but I saw this on Buffalo and its options should they miss first overall:

But midway through the article came a fascinating reveal: Sabres GM Tim Murray has already spent some time thinking about the question. And he thinks he might be able to get it done.

And the more I think about it, the more I suspect he?s right. Let?s assume that the Sabres do finish last ? sorry, Coyotes fans ? but then lose the lottery. They?d still have the second overall pick. That?s Jack Eichel?s spot, and most scouts consider him almost-but-not-quite in McDavid?s ballpark. Could Murray use that second overall pick, plus a package of other picks and prospects ? of which the Sabres have an impressive stockpile ? to convince the lucky lottery winner to trade down one spot?

If the Leafs were to somehow win the McDavid lottery, I doubt they'd do anything but grab him. But what of Buffalo's would be worth asking for to trade down one spot?

I think Eichel's good but McDavid is the clear #1 to me.  You don't trade down from a potential generational player.

I think there's a good number of people who would argue Eichel is one as well.  His NCAA scoring certainly lends credence to that.  Using the scoring equivalencies that nerds developed, his NCAA scoring rate translated to the OHL would put him quite close to McDavid's numbers.
