POS' heel turn over the past year or so has been a real treat to watch.

#unfortunateacronyms
#accurateacronyms?

Mike Johnson has also gotten in on it:

I'm pretty sure that if you're a really good person while alive you get to come back as Evgeni Malkin's winger.

Congratulations to the Penguins' Sidney Crosby on reaching his 1000th career point.  This milestone makes Crosby the second youngest among active players in the league to accomplish this achievement.  Crosby is also 12th fastest on the all-time list to accomplish the feat.

Anaheim's Antoine Vermette suspended 10 games without pay for "physical abuse of an official".

In a game (Tuesday) against the Wild, Vermette, who has had no previous offence, appeared to have slashed a linesman on the back of the legs after a faceoff while in play.
The league stipulated that Vermette's action constituted "applying physical force to an official without intent to injure".

O'Sullivan's responses:

Based on Sullivan response, Wheeler's answer was not very different, and certainly not absolutely wrong.

I like when they discuss the X's and O's and talk about the game. I'm not sure I enjoy those extra ad hominem jabs Sullivan likes to smirk in there, but it's not like he's the only one that ever does that.

That Nyqvist stab to the face was vicious. After getting hit from behind he rises, turns around, torques himself up and stabs him in the face with his blade. The butt-end of his stick was shown to brush the glass when he did it, possibly making the case that he meant to stab him in the chest and not the face. I'd put it on par with McSorely's whack to the side of Brashear's face. 6 games is pretty weak. It's like the NHL is worried about the PA and collectively bargains every suspension.

Per Icehockey Wikia:

"Most three-or-more goal games, one season: Wayne Gretzky, 10 (1981?82 and again in 1983?84)"

Anyone know what the record is for rookies?

Selanne had 5 in his rookie year, but I'm not sure if that is a record.
Thanks. As much as I want to see Auston win the Calder this year, I couldn't be too upset if Laine got it instead.

For Laine to win over Marner and Matthews I think he'd have to win the goal scoring title by more than 1 or 2 goals.
Another goal and assist for Laine today.

More goals and assists than Matthews, in fewer games played.

Think it's increasingly likely that he'll beat out Matthews this year for the Calder.

Great execution by the Dallas Stars Twitter feed:

12 seconds into overtime, Mikael Granlund skates through Anze Kopitar, Jeff Carter, and Drew Doughty and then scores on Jonathan Quick like it's nothing.

Tampa did the Leafs another solid last night, posting up 5-1 over Ottawa.

Kucherov (i.e. the guy helping Palat and Johnson get paid) scores a natural hatty in the 2nd, each on the PP, and from the same spot, with the same shot.

Leafs need to do themselves a solid and win tonight.

That will be a tall order.
