Especially since so many of them are false alarms/not really newsworthy events.

Some guy from Vancouver?  So Vancouver is trading someone?  Meh.

Seems like they are giving Benning an extension.

LOL

Awesome.  All the teams at the bottom of the league extending their GMs.  Habs, step right up!

I'm so happy they re-signed Benning. When people ask "oh you think you're smarter than a NHL GM?" it gives me that much more evidence to say "absolutely".

More likely, the Senators could have Chabot and Ceci as their top pairing, and that wouldn?t be the worst thing in the world.

By this time next season, in fact, they could be well on their way to becoming a flipped side version of Karlsson and Marc Methot, at 22 and 25 years old.

The similarities are there. The offensively gifted Chabot is on track to becoming as good as Karlsson. Ceci is only like Methot in that both are from Ottawa, both are good skaters, both have size and ? now that Ceci has been groomed to think defence first ? both are perfectly suited to be teammed with a Karlsson/Chabot like player.

Chabot is on track to becoming as good as the best offensive defencemen of this generation. Haha

The whole article is amazing. Guaranteed that Ceci signs an 8-year extension this summer that is going to be hilariously bad.

Jonathan Willis tearing into the current Oilers regime this morning:

Boom. Roasted.

I mean you know me I'm all for trashing the Oilers, but would anyone actually make either of these trades if you're Edmonton:

McDavid ($12.5mil) for Gaudreau and Monahan ($13.125mil)

Draisaitl ($8.5mil) for Backlund and Ferland ($7.1mil)

Many, if not most, of the hockey "experts", including many around here, had predicted the Oilers comfortably in the playoffs this season, if not a Cup contender.  It really hasn't gone as planned, but with a few changes, I think they're a definite threat next season.

This pile on the Oilers stuff is more to do with people still sour about them winning all the draft lotteries because of constant underachievement.

As opposed to the fact that they haven't been able to build a consistently competitive team despite having 4 #1 picks and a slew of other top 10 picks? Or the fact that for their tire fire of a team they needed hundreds of millions in public funding to display it?
