2018-2019 NFL Thread

I can't believe the end to my Eagles game. I had accepted the loss when the Bears lined up for the field goal. The expertly called time-out by Pederson and the kicker makes the first one that doesn't count (quite easily by the way). I'm like "sure call a time out to make him think, this won't work". 2 posts later and I'm jumping up and down. Unreal

And it gives the Eagles a chance to get revenge over the Saints for that game earlier in the season....

Hard luck Zee, the Eagles had me very, very worried in that first quarter but the Saints pretty much dominated it from then on. Great game though.

KC Chiefs ramp it up over the Indianapolis Colts 31-13 in an AFC Divisional Round,  with Chiefs QB Mahomes being well, Patrick Mahomes.  E--a-s-y victory.

Them poor Cowboys!  Losers to the L.A. Rams 30-22 in the NFC Divisional Round.

Some fancy analytics to look at:  Predicting team basis projections (expected offence, defence, STs & pts./play, etc.).

That ends the QB controversy although no Eagles fan really wanted Foles over Wentz. It's too bad Jeffrey screwed up at the end, a miracle finish might have been in the cards :(

As you say Wentz was always going to win out, but if anyone was likely to pull off a playoff miracle in the last couple of minutes you'd have backed Foles considering his post-season past. Have to say the Eagles really turned it round after the previous game in the dome. They'll be there or thereabouts again next season.

I'm due to be in Philadelphia in September, might try and catch a game if it happens they've a home game the weekend I'm there

If I were an Eagles fan, I'd have definitely hinged my bet on Foles.  Considering everything about this Eagles season,  the icing on the cake, so to speak, would have been  for Foles to pull off another surprise.  Can't blame it all on the QB.  He'll always be in the Eagles record book as a Super Bowl Champ.

A controversial non-call against the L.A. Rams changed the momentum and the game for QB Drew Bree?s & the New Orleans Saints in a 26-23 OT loss to the Rams, in the NFC Championship Game Sunday.

From everyone?s viewpoint, the helmet to helmet hit on the Saints? receiver Lewis definitely merited the flag as a bona tide interference penalty.  Why the referee?s missed it or didn?t call it is beyond anyone?s guess.

?No team should ever be denied the opportunity to reach the title game ? or simply win a game ? based on the actions, or inactions, of those charged with creating a fair and equitable playing field. As is clear to all who watched the game, it is undeniable that our team and fans were unfairly deprived of that opportunity.?

Officials had declined to throw a flag in the closing stages of Sunday?s game, after Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman had clearly hit Saints wide receiver Tommylee Lewis before the ball arrived on a third-and-10 pass.

Had a penalty been called, the Saints would have been able to run the clock down before kicking a field goal as time expired, which would have won the game. Instead, they were forced to kick a field goal with 1:41 remaining. The Rams were able to tie and force overtime, where Greg Zuerlein?s 57-yard field goal sent them to the Super Bowl.

In what was the lowest-scoring game in Super Bowl history,  the New England Patriots won their sixth Super Bowl championship with a 13-3 triumph over the Los Angeles Rams Sunday.

Even though no QB of either team  threw touchdowns, it was the Patriots QB Tom Brady who masterminded the drive that led to the eventual winning TD..  With barely minutes left in the fourth quarter, leave it to Brady to somehow get the rabbit out of the hat so to speak, and his trustworthy receiver Edelman, to get the job done.  And they didn't disappoint.

The younger, faster Rams squad whom many thought would prove to be too quick and troubleaome for the slower Patriots, surely had their game plan in tatters by a New England defence that stymied L.A.'s passing & running game.  L.A. QB Goff was sacked four times.

Not to be outdone, the Rams themselves held off the Patriots offensive attack.  But no matter what, it would be up to Terrific Tom to figure it out and Brady outsmarted even the staunchiest of defences at the last minute.

The Patriots tie the Pittsburgh Steelers for most Super Bowl wins by a franchise.

Patriots QB Tom Brady makes history by winning his sixth championship.

Under coach Bill Belichick, New England has won the Super Bowl six times in nine seasons.

WAY TO GO, BRADY!!
