Canada's two-man bobsled team of Justin Kripps & Alexander Kopacz win Gold in the Two-mam Bobsled event.  The Canadians shared the Gold medal podium with the German team, as both Canada and Germany sported identical results.

What a coincidence but for good measure!

What a sensational and thrilling, not to mention perfect, were Canada's Ice Dancing duo of Scott Moir & Tessa Virtue.  They earned themselves their all-time fifth medal -- a Gold -- unprecedented in the world of Ice Dancing.

Whoa, what a finish these two had.  It was fittingly that they were the last competitors of the evening and they made the most of it, knocking  off the other perfect duo, France's Papadakis/Cizeron who racked up enough points to win the Gold.  Enter Moir/Virtue....

....and the rest is history in the making, as their grace & style, professionalism & expertise on that ice were simply unbeatable.  Virtue & Moir had earlier broken their own World record in the Short Program portion of this competition, and judging by their very dynamic performance, it was plain to see why they were the favourites to win the Gold.

This may very well be Moir & Virtue's swan song, leaving them as the best ice dancers of their generation.

Congratulations, Scott & Tessa!    GO CANADA GO!

Canada's Kim Boutin win sher third medal of the Games -- a Silver - in the Women's 1000 metres Shorttrack Speedskating event.

Canada's Kaitlin Osmond wins Bronze in rhe Ladie's Figure Skating event.

To top it all up, with this latest medal, Canada surpasses her total medal count set in Vancouver by one more, this setting an all-time national record.

Canada finishes with the highest Olympic medal tally in her history.  Good enough for third place in the standings (and yes, we surged past the good 'ol US of A).

Congratulations to all of the Canadian medallists, and to all of our country's Olympic Athletes.  For many of you, just being here and having been selected to represent your nation is anachievement unto itself.

Canada, by the way, had the second largest continent of athletes of any country (225) with the exception of the USA which had the largest representation (245).

So long, PyeongChang!

With a beautifully choreographed Closing Ceremonies Sunday night here  that wowed viewers, what with painting drones (yes, they did that), 'skating pandas' (not the real ones but technologically done), the Korean musical sensation group K-Pop, and plenty of fireworks similar to the opening ceremonies stunning display, well, who can say that PyeongChang didn't disappoint.

As the Olympic flag was handed over to China for the next Winter Olympic Games, there were very few that didn't enjoy what these Olympics brought -- displays of true sportsmanship among athletes (who can forget Canada's Speedskating multiple medallist Kim Boutin and  her South Korean competitor sharing a hugs, this after some violent threats directed at Boutin by Koreans via social media directly after her previous Bronze medal finish). Or,  the US Ice Dance  siblings the Shibutanis, congratulating Canadians Scott Moir & Tessa Virtue on their Gold medal triumph.  Or how about sheer will such as in Canada's skier/snowboarder Mark McMorris who nearly died a year ago, but remarkably recovered to participate in these games.  Or outright disappointment of Canada's Women's Hockey squad showing their tears and sobs at having lost a heartbreaker to the US squad in the Gold Medal game shootout.  Talk about warring your emotions on your sleeves.

So many many others displays of perseverance, competitiveness, including friendliness and hospitality on the part of the hosts.

These Winter Olympics seemed to have embodied the best and the worst, the highs and the lows, the hopefullness and the anticipation, the list is endless.

And oh yeah, diplomacy.  Such as in North Korean athletes teaming up with their South Korean brethren as a team Unified Korea.  History in the making and one that the South Korean government hopes that the invite plus the attendance of the N.Korean government delegation would eventually spur some dialogue for peace.

That aside, Kim Boutin, by the way, was Canada's flag-bearer here at the Closing Ceremonies.  Shootout to Canada's athletes for the most successful Winter Olympic Games ever. 

Whoa, what a ride!
