2019-2020 NHL Thread

This is how I found out that there's an outdoor game tomorrow.

I said the same thing to a few friends -- you know these games are over saturated when you find out about them the day of or the day before by complete fluke.

The Winter Classic had all the potential to become a great New Year's Day tradition as a standalone product.  The NHL killed that momentum with all these useless outdoor games.  And worst of all, the games aren't even good.

Outdoor games are now a local thing, it doesn't matter that you folks in Toronto didn't know there was one in Regina. The stadium and hotels were full, that's all that matters.

Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice called it the perfect setting & conditions for an outdoor game.  All that was missing was Santa & Rudolph.

Last seasons big turnaround will probably eliminate the chance of the Blues selling off pieces too early if they start to nose dive because of this but the Leafs could fit Pietrangelo's cap hit this season if the Blues took back Ceci and Kapanen/Johnsson were part of the package as well.

That's kind of what I was pondering.

Perhaps even only one of them if the Blues were willing to eat half his cap for the rest of the year.

Wishful thinking at this point, though...

What a fantastic account to follow
We know Lucic is terrible but Neal was just as horrible last year. Playing with McDavid has it's benefits lol.

Neal and Lucic have career similarities.  Lucic had one decent goal scoring year and Neal had one bad one. Anyone that would bet on Lucic over Neal should be unemployed.

Totally agree, it was a bad move on Calgary's part, but that is the reason Calgary dumped Neal. The NHL has passed by Lucic. Neal can still play.

Never liked Lucic (as a player).  He should retire.

Might be hard to get a guy to walk away from $13 million.

Guys, you're trying to replicate the wrong part of the Blues success. The Leafs should be crap for half the season, then go on to win the Stanley Cup.

Isn't that what they're doing?  ;)

Rantanen was hurt just a week ago too and is also "out indefinitely".
