Yeah you are on the wrong side of this one.

Oh my goodness, you think I'm wrong about something. However will I cope?

I'd suggest normal protocol,  write over and over trying to twist the debate your way and when that doesn't work write a pouty little reply like this one I replied to.

Since when are you allowed to call timeout in the draft? Doesn't it just mean another team can pick?

I wonder if they're allowed a video replay? "hmm, on second look, that was indeed a bad pick. Roll back the clock by 5 picks."

Anyone still watching this? I'm kinda hoping Daniil Gutik continues his free fall and the Leafs take him. Big kid, highly skilled by most accounts, but can't skate for beans, apparently. Maybe Barb can remedy that?

Not a chance  ;)

Heavier in NHL terms does not simply mean weight. Freddie the Goat is not heavier than Marchand.

Well that's good, because Nick Robertson is pretty much the same size as Marchand was when he was drafted.

I really sucks that the NHL has a rule that small, skilled players can never be traded for "heavier" players.  We're stuck with all of of these tiny lil' fellas forever.

It looks like the Leafs just traded out of the 208 spot?
Looks like it. Later in this round plus an extra late pick next year maybe? Whatevs, I guess.

Never really thought of that thought process. Rather than draft for possible success let's go with drafting for possible future trade value.

Well, that's the draft. Bunch of smaller guys, no overagers...maybe they'll combine all of them in a year or two and trade for Milan Lucic so they can beat the Bruins.

Would love to see who would make such as suggestion?

So we take another player in the 2nd round who is not close to 6'. Maybe he'll have a growth spurt, I hope so. But it seems we want to be the all around smallest team in the league. Can get away with it for most of the regular season, but playoff hockey is a different beast. Until the team adds 2-3 bigger players with some grit and edge to creat some room for our smaller skill players it's going to be the same result in the playoffs.
In the later rounds you draft for skill. You need to try and swing for the fences because a big body with mediocre skill gets you a big body that just can't play.

So my 2 bits on some responses.

There are plenty of players in the draft who are bigger that aren't of medicore skill. Every team needs a variety of role players.

On the potential guys coming up, great.. if they make it. Is the grit and edge there? Hope so.

Bigger and heavier, correct, did we utilize it, with some grit and edginess? No because it's not in some of the guys DNA. I said we seem to want be the smallest team, not that we are.  So my "personal" opinion is a couple 6' plus guys with that mentality, versus a smaller version of that would be better.  A balance of skill players and hard-nosed role players .. I personally think we're out of balance.
