That's quite the specific dream.herman said:I had a weird dream where Marleau got traded for Kessel, and the line of Nylander - Kadri - Kessel put up 96 goals.

Think a smaller Anton Stralman maybe. Would pretty much be a perfect RHD for Rielly on the top pairing. Really don't know why the Wild would trade him but they dealt Niederreiter for Rask so something like Spurgeon for Zaitsev doesn't even seem THAT crazy in comparison.

What's weirder was none of them were wearing pants.
Well I'd be good with that. Do it Dubas!CarltonTheBear said:Guilt Trip said:I don't know much/anything about him. Why should the Leafs be all over that and who would be going to get him?

Maybe it would take Kappy to get them to take Zaitsev and we'd get Spurgeon. That would be pretty expensive seeing he's only signed for 1 more year. Maybe a draft pick or lesser prospect?CarltonTheBear said:In a more serious Spurgeon proposal, I can see them being pretty interested in Kapanen. This is a problem I brought up with Minnesota before: they have almost zero right handed forwards. In 17/18 their only righties were centre Charlie Coyle, and Chris Stewart who was mostly a 4th liner before being claimed off waivers. In 18/19 they had Coyle (traded), Fehr (centre), Kunin (centre), J.T. Brown (4th line winger) and then they acquired Pontus Aberg mid-season but he's not really an impact player. So for two straight seasons they've had zero top-9 wingers who were right handed.
Zaitsev would have to get dealt in some way as well for cap purposes, and honestly who knows maybe Minnesota does see some value in him since losing Spurgeon would leave them with almost nothing on the right side.

I?m with you here, Herman.
I had a dream not long ago where I jumped off the glass, skates on, scored a goal and helped the Leafs win the Cup! [emoji16] Seriously! [emoji4][emoji854][emoji846] Strange but wierd. [emoji3061]

We can expect Rosen to make the jump, there is a lot of buzz on Borgman again for the sandpaper he brings, Sandin may need some more time in the AHL but maybe not. Lilepad is ready to jump.
The unknown is what Lindgren and Kivihalme bring to the table. I like the Athletic's take on Kivihalme.
Or how long Hollowell and Duzak will need to make the jump. Pretty sure the last two could use a year on the farm.

Honestly, I think the Leafs need to take advantage of Kapanen's value sooner rather than later, as I feel like his decision making is really going to keep him from approaching the potential he's shown. He's got great speed and good tools, but, he doesn't appear to have great hockey IQ. They need to move him before too many other teams come to the same conclusion.
Kapanen is a legit two way player with elite speed. I would keep him and Johnsson over Nylander any day of the week. Yes, Nylander has more hockey IQ as you call it, but he is slow, lazy, and selfish by comparison. I probably would have sat Nylander out for the season and used the extra cap space to get a good rental player. If our failed season came down to one player it was Nylander. I?m completely disappointed in him as a fan. If Kapanen does go I hope we can get good value for him at least.Andy said:bustaheims said:Guilt Trip said:Maybe it would take Kappy to get them to take Zaitsev and we'd get Spurgeon. Yea, Kapanen's great when you want to skate from one end to the other in a straight line but when there's nuance and playmaking involved, he really seems out of his element. I agree, I'd sell high on him too; get a fairly young, legitimate top 4 RHD and I'm happy.
