2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Amadio is on waivers today. While Mrazek is coming back, there is no cap reason to waive Amadio to bring him back since Hutchinson is up on emergency loan.

Semyonov has 5 points in 5 games, leading the Marlies in that department. Wonder if they just want to give him a look.

I?m kind of indifferent to losing Brooks but I have no idea what the team saw in Amadio over Brooks.  He was absurdly slow

Looking forward to this, except instead of the Leafs ripping off 18 shots, it will just be one block and a breakaway goal the other way.

This really looked like that fake volleyball video of that guy getting repeatedly spiked.

Probably still too early, but Ho-Sang definitely intrigues me. Goal a game so far and some serious skills in the games I?ve caught bits of.

Small sample size and all though. And probably requires cap manoeuvring I won?t be able to work out.

Ho-Sang is on an AHL only deal, so no idea how that works.

He has to sign an NHL deal as well and might require some sort of waivers or something where other teams might have a chance to sign him?  Not that I think there would be huge interest in him based on history but just something to consider

Ho-Sang, whom I've wanted us to trade for for over 3 years, for NHL purposes is a UFA and contractually unaffiliated with any NHL club. Any NHL club can make him an SPC offer at this point if they have the cap/roster space to do so, and Ho-Sang agrees.

The waivers Zee might be thinking of is for UFA players who have played in leagues outside of North America after the start of the regular season that want to terminate there and play in the NHL, unless he is already on the team's reserve list (e.g. drafted and thus not UFA).
13.23 In the event a professional or former professional Player plays in a league outside North America after the start of the NHL Regular Season, other than on Loan from his Club, he may thereafter play in the NHL during that Playing Season (including Playoffs) only if he has first either cleared or been obtained via Waivers.

My assumption upon his signing of the AHL deal was that he'd be re-developing and building back his confidence in Toronto (no waivers required!) to eventually sign an NHL SPC before or on the trade deadline to add top-6 scoring depth to whatever team (Leafs, please).

Anyone else remember Mogilny ripping these bad boys from the goal line (from the other side) on one time passes from Sundin?

I think Vegas is coming to town shortly so I guess he could just join them here.

Edit: Nov 2, so maybe not.
Edit 2: that?s Vegas? next game so probably!

I don?t get it.  It seems like we lose a disproportionate number of mediocre players to waivers.  It?s not really a loss to the team but this is getting kind of silly how every single person we put on waivers gets claimed

It is weird how so many of the marginal NHLers the Leafs put on waivers that get claimed. Like, every organization has players like this. At least, with Brooks, I can see why a team might see a young guy with potential to be a little more, but the rest of the guys that have claimed over the last couple seasons? Is strange.

Best game yet and he gets sent down.

I don't care what rationale there is, that's a weird message to send to a young guy.
