2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

The European player needing to go through waivers thing doesn't really make sense to me.  Waivers are designed as a mechanism to promote players being in the NHL.  Forcing a player to go to a team they didn't sign with just seems bizarre to me.
Yeah it's weird. There's probably a European Clause where they can go back. I don't remember anyone ever getting claimed this way..has there been?

The most high profile one I remember is Evgeni Nabokov - https://www.hockeyfeed.com/nhl-news/evgeni-nabokov-was-once-briefly-a-detroit-red-wing

Thx

Probably nothing but still weird because of the cap implications...

No, this one was the best one:

Ryan O?Reilly offersheeted by Calgary. If Colorado didn?t match, he would?ve had to pass through waivers (and get claimed) due to playing in the KHL during the lockout.

Ok, that's enough, world.

Otherwise, LTIR Kase and Sandin and go to town on a 2LW

Good news on the Muzzin front; less than good news on the Sandin side of things.

I certainly enjoyed watching him lo those many games.

I'm assuming for a conditional 7th where Biega has to win the Cup and score 100% of the playoff goals for both teams in the finals to get it?

Future considerations

Weekes didn't even bother with a video.

Assuming a low pick on the return, we are freeing up an SPC slot

Getting even a 7th round pick for the organizations like 12th best defenceman would be up there as one of the best deadline deals ever value wise. Only slightly exaggerating here. I'm assuming it's just future considerations to free up a spot like you said (and maybe do Biega a solid).

Knies might be getting an ELC in a couple weeks

I know there's probably a decent chance that that's not actually what PP2 looks like come Wednesday, but jesus christ is that horrible. I really don't get why Alex Kerfoot, 4th on the team in 5-on-5 points, never sees a lick of ice-time there.
